What’s happening in Missouri – and across the country – is a disgrace If you've saved

What’s happening in Missouri – and across the country – is a disgrace [Democratic Attorneys General Association] {NAME} – It’s Illinois AG Kwame Raoul. I’m reaching out today to talk about how GOP officials are dismantling abortion access across the country – including in my neighboring state of Missouri – and how you can help protect this basic right. Legislation introduced in the Missouri House includes a provision with astounding reach: If this law passes, it would become illegal to help any Missourian obtain an abortion – either inside or outside of Missouri’s borders – and it allows any private citizen to sue to “enforce” the ban. And if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, every red state surrounding Illinois would quickly follow Missouri’s lead and restrict access to abortion, making Illinois an oasis in the Midwest for women to access safe reproductive health care. It’s more important than ever that we have pro-choice Democratic AGs in office to be the front-line defenders of reproductive freedom. [If you’re able, chip in to DAGA today and help elect pro-choice Dem AGs this year:]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $5]( [DONATE $10]( [DONATE $25]( [DONATE $50]( In 2020, nearly 10,000 people crossed the state border into Illinois to have an abortion – a 29% increase from the year before, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, I know that number will only increase. I’m proud that Illinois remains a place where reproductive rights are secure, and I will continue to protect those rights wherever they are under threat. While Illinois proudly protects reproductive freedom, we all benefit when every single person is able to access the care they need in their own communities, without facing additional (and often impossible) burdens associated with traveling out of state. If we support these rights for Illinoisians, then we must support them for people everywhere. [My fellow Dem AGs and I are committed to fighting for reproductive health care and abortion access. Help us in our cause by donating to DAGA and making sure they have the resources they need to keep Dem AGs in office this year.]( Thanks, Kwame [AG Raoul]( Kwame Raoul Attorney General, Illinois [Democratic Attorneys General Association] Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in 2022, [we need your support – will you chip in today?]( [CHIP IN]( If you’d like to receive less email from DAGA, fill out the form at this link and we’ll only send you the most important updates from the team.
