Dem AGs are making sure Jan. 6 insurrectionists are held responsible for their destruction. [Democratic Attorneys General Association] Washington, D.C. AG Karl Racine just filed a lawsuit against the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and more than 30 individual members and affiliates for their role in planning and carrying out the deadly January 6th attack on our Capitol. {NAME}, January 6th was a violent assault on our democracy – not a protest or a rally. It was an intentional act of domestic terrorism. The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers conspired and executed a violent and unlawful attack on the Capitol to block Congress from completing their constitutional duty to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election. Because of their actions, it’s one of the darkest days in our country’s history. Accountability for Jan. 6th is critical to preventing another insurrection from happening in our national or state capitols. We need to have fiercely pro-democracy Democratic AGs in office to hold these insurrectionists responsible, because we can never allow this to happen again. This lawsuit is about achieving justice for the country, the District, and the public safety officers who risked their lives on that fateful day. There must be accountability for those responsible for plotting, planning, and carrying out the violence of that day. And it’s only happening because we've successfully elected Dem AGs. Democratic AGs are fighting against restrictive voting laws that disproportionately hurt Black and Brown communities across the country each and every day.
