We need to act now to save our democracy. Extremist Republican Governor Greg Abbott just signed one

We need to act now to save our democracy. [Democratic Attorneys General Association] {NAME}, have you heard about what just happened in Texas? ['Abbott Signs Texas Election Law...' -The New York Times]( Extremist Republican Governor Greg Abbott just signed one of the most restrictive voting bills into law that potentially disenfranchises thousands of Texans. This new law bans 24-hour and drive-through voting, and opens up polling places to partisan poll watchers. These restrictions serve no purpose other than making it harder for millions of Texans to vote. This is a power grab by Texas Republicans, and we need to stop them. Two lawsuits to overturn this law have already been filed, and indicted Republican Texas AG Ken Paxton will defend this law in both cases. If we had a Dem AG in office, we could have a democracy defender fighting for Texans instead of a far-right, pro-Trump extremist dead-set on keeping power in Republicans hands. And that’s why we need you, {NAME}. [We can beat Republicans in states like Texas with Democratic Attorneys General who want to expand access to the ballot box, but we need your help. Will you give $15 today to help us win these key races?]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $5]( [DONATE $15]( [DONATE $50]( [DONATE $100]( Democratic Attorneys General across the country play a critical role in preventing these sorts of voter suppression bills. Here are just a few things they’ve done in the past few months to protect the right to vote: - Joined President Biden’s Department of Justice in their lawsuit against Georgia’s voter suppression law - Sued to expand the number of polling locations in local elections – and won - Demanded Trump’s postmaster general Louis DeJoy stop his continued attempts to delay the mail, including mail-in-ballots - Worked with state legislatures to expand the right to vote in states across the country - Fought in court to prevent voters from being removed from voting rolls – and won We can elect more Dem AGs who will build and strengthen our democracy, but we need your help now to invest in and win these races. [Can you help us elect more pro-Democracy Dem AGs, {NAME}? Support our work to help elect more Dem AGs in 2021 and 2022 by making a $15 donation.]( Thanks for helping us win these races, David David Sanchez Senior Deputy Political Director Democratic Attorneys General Association [Democratic Attorneys General Association] Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, [we need your support – will you chip in today?]( [CHIP IN]( If you’d like to receive less email from DAGA, fill out the form at this link and we’ll only send you the most important updates from the team.
