{NAME}, Immediately following Elon Musk’s take over of Twitter, Republican extremists felt emboldened to spread hate speech and racist rhetoric across the site. In just a few hours, the use of the n-word spiked close to 500 percent, and disinformation spread like wildfire. Elon Musk himself is part of the problem. He shared a completely baseless and homophobic conspiracy about Paul Pelosi (Nancy Pelosi’s husband) after he was violently attacked. Elon Musk’s 100 million plus followers then immediately promoted this idea, helping to push it out even further. Actions and hate speech like the examples above allow hate groups to flourish and there’s really only one way to stop it: forcing Twitter’s largest advertisers to suspend their ads. Already, some advertisers have quit Twitter including General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, and American Express. They all decided to pause ads because of Elon’s ownership. But there are still too many corporations that continue to give business to Twitter — allowing hate and disinformation to keep spreading. [Join DFA and Robert Reich at Inequality Media to tell corporations, including HBO, Disney, Google, Pepsi, and Amazon, along with IBM, Coke, Apple, Best Buy, and almost a dozen others, to suspend all Twitter advertising immediately.]( [Add Your Name]( Just last week, Twitter's head of trust and safety resigned after it became clear that both trust and safety would not be a priority under Elon. We can force Elon to bring back sensible content moderation that prevents dangerous conspiracy theories and racism from running rampant on Twitter by going after the one thing he cares about — his pocketbook. The money advertisers spend on Twitter sets the standard of speech that is tolerated. Since Twitter’s top 20 advertisers account for 90% of the revenue we must work to ensure that enough of these corporations feel the pressure to act. [Tell corporations, including HBO, Disney, Google, Pepsi, and Amazon, along with IBM, Coke, Apple, Best Buy, and almost a dozen others, to suspend all Twitter advertising now.]( [Add Your Name]( Thank you for taking action today! - Kait Kait Sweeney Director of Communications Democracy for America --------------------------------------------------------------- Since our founding in 2004, every campaign staffer we have trained, every voter we have contacted, and every single candidate we put over was directly funded by members like you. With a strong grassroots campaign, we can use our experience and strategy to tap into the diverse coalition that it’s going to take to keep Georgia blue. It all comes down to Georgia and what we do to win. We can drive another big runoff victory, but we only have a few weeks to make it happen. [DFA relies on funding from grassroots donors to power our critically important voter contact programs. So if you can, please contribute $23.18 (our average this year), to fully fund a robust campaign in the Georgia runoff.]( [Donate]( Paid for by Democracy for America, democracyforamerica.com and not authorized by any candidate.
