{NAME} -- Have you ever thought about running for office? It's a serious question. At Democracy for America, we believe you have the power to change your community, your state, and your country. One way you can do that is to become a candidate for office yourself. We have a lot of work to do and a lot of seats to win if we're going to effectively resist Donald Trump and his Republican Party in all 50 states. We have to rebuild after cycles of devastating losses at the state and local level, as well as take on a Republican-held federal government with a terrifying agenda. That might be where you -- or someone you know -- can make a difference. Democracy for America endorses candidates up and down the ballot, across the country. Since 2004 we have elected more than 900 progressives to all kinds of offices. Here in 2017, our task is more urgent than ever. Are you running for school board, for mayor, for governor, prosecutor, or water commission? Or do you know someone who is running that DFA should consider endorsing? [YES! Click here to start or share the application for an endorsement from Democracy for America.]( [No, I'm not running for office, but I will chip in $3 or more to help DFA elect the amazing progressive leaders who are running.]( We need progressive leaders who will turn our cities into bastions of resistance. We need to fight racist voter suppression and state-level attacks on workers, women, immigrants, refugees, and Black and Brown communities, by flipping control of state legislatures and preparing for the extremely important 38 gubernatorial races up in 2018. And we need to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of national leaders who will take back Congress -- not just from Trump and the Republicans -- but also from the Wall Street Democrats who enable him. It's time to build a reflective democracy, now. We need our elected bodies to reflect the great breadth of lived experiences, needs, and values of all Americans, not just the wealthy, white and privileged. At all levels of government, women and people of color have been pushed out of leadership by good old boy networks and an outdated consultant class. And here at DFA, we're committed to creating a political process where all our best and brightest have the opportunity to step up and lead. Whether you're not sure about running, or already planning to run, DFA will be holding training events in the coming weeks to help you build the resistance, up and down the ballot. We'll show you how to launch a bold, people-powered campaign that emphasizes racial and economic justice, welcomes voters into the political process, and builds a genuinely people-powered campaign focused on real organizing on our shared values. Are you running for school board, for mayor, for governor, prosecutor, or water commission? Or do you know someone who is that DFA should consider endorsing? [YES! Click here to start or share the application for an endorsement from Democracy for America.]( [No, I'm not running for office, but I will chip in $3 or more to help DFA elect the amazing progressive leaders who are running.]( This work starts right in your own community. We need to ensure our cities are resisting Trump and his hateful, greedy agenda by electing mayors, city councilors, school board members, and prosecutors. We will build on the work DFA has done in the last two years -- we unseated Rahm Emanuel's prosecutor and replaced her with a progressive champion, Kim Foxx. We built power in city councils from Philadelphia, to Seattle, to Tucson, and beyond. We retook the Berkeley rent board and helped transform the BART board. In Stockton, we helped progressive champ Michael Tubbs become the city's first Black mayor and, at 26 years old, their youngest ever. States are where crucial battles for economic and racial justice are won or lost, and elections make all the difference here. We will fight voter suppression and create a more inclusive political process by electing more secretaries of state, as we did with Maggie Toulouse Oliver in New Mexico in 2016. In Pennsylvania, we helped flip control of the state's Supreme Court to fight Republicans' racist gerrymandering. We need to flip state legislatures in states like New Jersey and Virginia this fall, and lay the groundwork to score some powerful victories in the 38 Governor's seats up in 2018. And we need to fill Congress with progressive champions like Pramila Jayapal and Keith Ellison who will do everything they can to resist Trump, stop the Republican agenda, and then put racial and economic justice at the center of the Democratic agenda -- instead of cutting deals with Wall Street insiders. Democracy for America members are ready to endorse more incredible leaders, up and down the ballot. Have you already thrown your hat in the ring? Or do you know a great candidate that DFA should look at? [YES! Click here to start or share the application for an endorsement from Democracy for America.]( [No, I'm not running for office, but I will chip in $3 or more to help DFA elect the amazing progressive leaders who are running.]( Thank you for stepping up in this critical moment. And watch for more updates about DFA training events in the near future. - Annie Annie Weinberg, Electoral Director Democracy for America [DONATE]( Paid for by Democracy for America, and not authorized by any candidate.
