{NAME} -- The week of February 18–26 is the first recess of the 115th Congress -- time specifically set aside for members of Congress to meet with constituents and get the pulse of the communities they represent. Many representatives are holding town halls near you. DFA is joining MoveOn and several other progressive groups to help mobilize around these events. Are you ready to show up and resist Trump's bigoted agenda? [Yes! I will sign up to attend a local Resistance Recess event.]( [No, I can't attend an event, but I will chip in $3 or more now to support Democracy for America's efforts to hold Congress accountable at this critical moment.]( The growing, passionate progressive resistance against Donald Trump and the GOP has been taking advantage of this recess to make it clear that any attempt by members of Congress to accommodate Trump's hurtful agenda will not be tolerated. And it's making the 2009 Tea Party look like....well, a tea party. Last week, a video went viral showing Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah getting booed and shouted down at a town hall by constituents who wanted to see him stand up for them by standing up to Trump. And in California, hundreds of protesters swarmed a town hall held by Republican Rep. Tom McClintock, filling the air with chants of "climate change is real" and "RESIST!" These town hall victories are proof that our growing grassroots movement has all the momentum -- and it's forcing our elected representatives and the media to come to terms with the strength of the opposition to Donald Trump in this country. DFA, MoveOn, and progressive organizations are joining forces to mobilize turnout in this crucial week. Are you ready to fight back against Donald Trump by holding your elected officials accountable during the recess? [Yes! I will RSVP to attend a Resistance Recess event now.]( [No, I can't make it, but I'll pitch in $3 or more to support Democracy for America's work building the resistance during this Congressional recess.]( Thanks for being a part of the movement to stop Donald Trump. - Karli Karli Wallace Thompson, Campaign Manager Democracy for America P.S.
