That’s why – right now – over 235 bills are moving their way through state legislatures that would restrict voting rights across the country. Congress can stop them. The For the People Act would overrule most of the worst voter suppression tactics being deployed by Republicans in the states by strengthening the Voting Rights Act, expanding vote-by-mail, allowing same day registration, increasing funding for election security, eliminating voter ID requirements, and stopping states from purging voter rolls -- to name just a few highlights. Castro by adding your name today!]( Typically, schools, roads, court houses, and other federal buildings and properties get renamed in honor of former Presidents in the years following their service. Donald Trump was impeached for inciting an insurrection and his words are threatening federal buildings nationwide, still costing millions in extra security and putting lives -- and democracy -- at risk. To move this country forward from the devastatingly criminal and dangerous Trump administration, Rep. Joaquin Castro announced he would sponsor legislation to prohibit any federal building or property from being named after Donald Trump. House Democrats are delivering for the American people and there’s so much more to come. But we can’t let Congressman Castro’s critically important legislation lose momentum or slip through the cracks of a busy agenda. As Constitutional expert and former Yale Law professor Bruce Ackerman has noted, a majority vote that Trump engaged in insurrection against the United States is sufficient to trigger this clause.
