{NAME} -- "If we had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so." This morning, in his first public statement on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, Special Counsel Robert Mueller made it crystal clear that his report does not exonerate Donald Trump -- and its up to Congress to hold the president accountable. Will you call your member of Congress right now and tell them to support beginning impeachment proceedings? [Yes -- I will call my member of Congress now.]( [No, I can't call, but I will chip in $3 or more to boost Democracy for America's work to build momentum for impeachment at this critical moment.]( Mueller explained that his hands were tied when it comes to Trump's potential obstruction of justice, due to a Department of Justice policy that forbade him from charging a sitting president of a crime. And then he went even further, pointing out that the Constitution provides Congress with other options to get to the bottom of this. Robert Mueller has done his part. Now, it is the responsibility of Congress to take the important evidence included in the Mueller report and open impeachment proceedings in order to hold Donald Trump and his administration accountable. DFA members have been calling for impeachment for more than two years now. Momentum is building in Congress, but many in leadership, including House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have been reluctant to take action. We need to change that. But this isn't just about the Democrats. We need to be talking to Republican representatives as well. Shortly after Mueller's statement, Republican Rep. Justin Amash called out his colleagues on Twitter, saying "the ball is in our court." We need to make sure that GOP members of Congress know where their constituents stand. The time for slow-moving partial investigations and hand-wringing about political repercussions is over. Congress must do its duty and uphold the rule of law. Congress is in recess right now -- which means feedback to local offices from constituents will have an added impact. Will you call your member of Congress today and tell them to throw their support behind beginning impeachment proceedings immediately? [Yes -- I'll make the call.]( [No -- but I will pitch in $3 or more to support the important work DFA members are doing to push Congress to impeach Donald Trump.]( Thanks for stepping up today. - The DFA Team Paid for by Democracy for America, democracyforamerica.com and not authorized by any candidate.
