{NAME} -- We knew that powerful interests were going to invest heavily in defeating Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her allies in Congress. But this is absurd and alarming. On Thursday, a powerful ally of Donald Trump created a super PAC specifically focused on attacking and smearing AOC -- and they're already raking in money to spend on spreading lies and undermining our progressive champions. [Chip in $3 or more to give AOC and DFA the resources we need to fight back now.]( This new hybrid super PAC is run by infamous conservative grifter and right-wing pundit Dan Backer, who has been involved in organizations that have spent millions to attack Democrats in order to prop up Donald Trump. Now, he is setting his sights on AOC. The PAC sent its first fundraising email to Trump supporters and well-off right-wing activists on Thursday, and it is full of ridiculous and disproven claims, attacks on progressive values and weird scare-mongering about socialism. Here's just a sample of what they are telling their members: The AOC came to Washington in January as an avowed socialist, the darling of New York and California leftist Elites. Since then, she's made a name for herself as the face of the New Socialist Left with wacky, unworkable, and downright crazy policies like the Green New Deal -- calling for the elimination of gas-powered cars and airplanes -- banning the consumption of hamburgers and making everyone go vegan. And Democrats are goose-stepping behind her! [These nonsense attacks are right out of Trump's playbook. Strike back now: chip in $3 or more to support AOC and DFA today.]( The fact that the right is already building infrastructure to go after AOC is a clear indication that wealthy conservatives see the energy building on the left -- and they view it as a major threat to the status quo. There is a long way to go between now and the 2020 election, and we are fully expecting to see more attacks like these against our boldest new leaders. We need to respond quickly and make it clear that our grassroots support is more powerful than any shady super PAC the right-wing wants to throw at us. Let's show Trump's allies that we are going to fight their senseless attacks on AOC with all we've got: [Pitch in $3 or more to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's campaign and DFA now.]( Thanks for having AOC's back right now -- and for your support of progressive champions everywhere. - The DFA Team [DONATE]( Paid for by Democracy for America, and not authorized by any candidate.
