{NAME} -- In 2014, the major TV networks declined to run a speech by President Obama on immigration. A network insider told Politico at the time that "there was agreement among the broadcast networks that [Obama's speech] was overtly political." So why on earth have all of the networks now agreed to give Trump live, prime time access for his immigration speech tonight? [If you’re as outraged by this decision as I am, please call the networks now and demand that they refuse to air Trump’s propaganda unchallenged.]( Trump has already made 6,420 false or misleading claims over 649 days. Immigration is an area in which he simply CANNOT tell the truth. He isn't entitled to prime time coverage to essentially make the case for his campaign pledge -- and to continue to spread dangerous lies to appease his right-wing base. The truth is Trump is holding our economy and more than 800,000 workers hostage, all so that he can try to score political points for 2020. He just released a campaign ad using more lies on immigration as an excuse for the government shutdown. This is just another sign that he has no concern for the hundreds of thousands of workers who are living paycheck to paycheck, much less for actually governing. It’s up to the media to hold Trump accountable and refuse to continue to broadcast his lies unfiltered. [The networks need to hear from you now! Call the networks and demand to know why they’re giving prime time coverage to Trump’s lies.]( Time and time again Trump has successfully used his bullying tactics to manipulate the media. It’s critical that we keep pushing back and demand balanced, fact-based reporting. Thank you for standing up. - Rep.
