{NAME} -- Progressives know that there is nothing “free” about corporate-rigged trade deal

{NAME} -- Progressives know that there is nothing “free” about corporate-rigged trade deals. For years, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has helped corporations outsource jobs, tear down labor unions and attack environmental protections in secret international courts. Now, NAFTA is being renegotiated -- and the same corporate interests that backed the original deal are lining up to lobby for more handouts. At this critical moment, we need to make it crystal clear that we will continue to fight for better trade deals that lift up ALL working families, period. That’s why a powerful coalition of consumer organizations, labor unions, environmental groups, faith and family farmers, and many others are joining together to demand real change on trade now. Will you join us? [Sign the petition: Any NAFTA replacement deal must eliminate the secret courts, end the job outsourcing, and add strong labor and environmental standards.]( Democracy for America members have been fighting back against terrible pro-corporate trade policy for years. Tens of thousands of DFA members joined with prominent progressives like Senator Bernie Sanders and Robert Reich in a multi-year fight to halt the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a toxic trade deal that would have exponentially increased corporate power. More recently, we’ve stood with Senator Elizabeth Warren in her fight to curb the horrific power of the secret trade courts created by a program called Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS). Under ISDS, corporations can sue the United States and remove labor and environmental laws they don’t like. This renegotiation of NAFTA is an important moment for trade policy in the U.S. and around the world. We can’t sit back and let the wealthy few and corporations make NAFTA even worse for workers and our climate. [Tell Congress: NAFTA’s replacement must end job outsourcing, protect the environment and raise wages for workers.]( Thank you for your support. - Karli Karli Wallace Thompson, Senior Digital Manager Democracy for America [DONATE]( Paid for by Democracy for America, and not authorized by any candidate.
