{NAME} -- URGENT: Donald Trump is coming dangerously close to crossing a red line on the Mueller investigation. We may be running out of time to stop him. [We need Congress to step up NOW. On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on a bill that would protect the investigation. Sign Democracy for America's petition telling the Senate to pass this bill immediately.]( Rumors have been swirling for weeks now that Donald Trump could fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who took over responsibility for the Russia investigation from Jeff Sessions last year. In fact, Rosenstein has been quietly telling associates that he believes his firing could be imminent. Make no mistake: Firing Rod Rosenstein would be a direct attack on the Mueller investigation and further proof that Donald Trump has zero respect for the rule of law. A brazen action like this would make it clear that no future action would be off the table, including firing Mueller and shutting down the investigation. [Sign our petition: Tell Congress to pass bipartisan legislation to protect the Mueller investigation NOW.]( If Trump fires Rosenstein, the first thing we need to do is hit the streets. Democracy for America is working with a broad coalition of progressive allies to make sure that the response to an attack by Trump is immediate and stretches from coast to coast. So if the news breaks, be ready -- and we will let you know where and when protests are happening near you. But marching is just the first step in holding Trump accountable. Congress needs to use the power granted to it by the Constitution to defend this investigation. Prominent Democrats and Republicans in the Senate have introduced the "Special Counsel Independence and Integrity Act," a law that would give Mueller a legal avenue to fight any attack by Trump. But some in the GOP's leadership are dragging their feet. [No one is above the law -- including Donald Trump. Sign our petition telling Democrats AND Republicans in Congress to pass bipartisan legislation to protect the Mueller investigation IMMEDIATELY.]( Thanks for taking a stand at this critical moment for our democracy. - Karli Karli Wallace Thompson, Senior Digital Manager Democracy for America  [DONATE]( Paid for by Democracy for America, and not authorized by any candidate.
