[Take Action!]( {NAME} -- It has been one decade since the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression happened, and the Senate is celebrating by giving bank lobbyists everything they've been wishing for. A coalition of Republicans and Wall Street Democrats are trying to pass a massive rollback of key Dodd-Frank regulations that could set us up for another crash. The bill could hit the Senate floor as soon as this week. Elizabeth Warren is having none of it. In a message to supporters, she wrote: "Let’s be clear: Banks of all sizes are making record profits right now. And if that wasn’t enough, the Republican tax bill just gave away billions to the big banks. They are swimming in money. There is no reason at all to roll back the rules on these big banks so they can pad their pockets even more – and cut them loose to take on wild risks again." Families across America are still trying to recover from the financial crash that happened in 2008. It's absolutely shameful that the Senate is already rushing to give bank lobbyists everything on their wish list and more. [Stand with Elizabeth Warren: Sign Democracy for America's petition and tell the Senate to vote NO on the Bank Lobbyist Act.]( Here are just a few of the awful provisions in the Bank Lobbyist Act: - It would wipe out key post-crisis controls for 25 of the largest 38 banks in the U.S -- banks that contributed to the 2008 crash and received nearly $50 billion in bailout cash. - It would make it easier for banks to get away with racial and gender discrimination in mortgage lending. This bill would allow 85% of U.S. banks to avoid new reporting standards designed to help the government identify and combat racist housing practices. - It would allow sellers of manufactured homes -- who are often targeting poor and working class families -- to get away with overcharging their customers and keeping the profits. It's not surprising that Republicans are going all out to make life easier for Wall Street. But the fact that 13 Senate Democrats have signed on to push through this giant giveaway to the banking industry should be alarming for all of us. If Democrats want to win big in November, we need to be a party that stands up for working families -- and any vote for this Bank Bailout Act is a direct betrayal of the wants and needs of Democratic voters. Big banks have already done too much damage to our country. We can't let the Senate get away with letting them loose once again to take risky gambles with our economy. Let's make it clear to Democrats and Republicans that supporting this bill will cost them in November. [Stand with Elizabeth Warren and sign our petition telling the Senate to protect Dodd-Frank by killing the Bank Lobbyist Act now.]( Thanks for taking action. We can't afford to give big banks free reign over our economy again. - Karli Karli Wallace Thompson, Campaign Manager Democracy for America [DONATE]( Paid for by Democracy for America, and not authorized by any candidate.
