When an aluminum company paid smugglers to haul toxic waste and illegally dump it across the border, I took them to court â and won. That prosecution set a powerful precedent that no company, big or small, could avoid accountability when harming people and our planet. When a Republican member of Congress refused to take action in the best interest of our community, I said enough was enough. I stepped up and ran for office against him. I served as the lead Manager for Trumpâs first impeachment trial in the Senate â and together, we secured the first bipartisan vote ever to convict a sitting president.
