# {NAME}, Earlier this week, Antonio emailed you about the danger of losing the Postal Service -- and we still need your help. The USPS will be forced to face bankruptcy this fall if they don't get the government assistance they deserve. From the delivery of all kinds of medications to at-home coronavirus testing kits, all the way to the massive surge in vote-by-mail requests we are seeing, the USPS has served as a backbone of our country -- and our democracy -- the entirety of the pandemic. The same way that USPS has shown up for us, we must show up for them. [Sign the petition: Tell Congress to save the United States Postal Service.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Thanks for taking the time to stand up for the Postal Service. We will not let them go down. -- Team Delgado ----------FORWARDED MESSAGE----------- From: Antonio Delgado Date: August 11th, 2020 Subject: Imagine losing the post office in 10016 {NAME}, Packages from loved ones. Social Security checks. Prescription drugs. Millions count on the United States Postal Service each day to deliver these items on time. During this pandemic, the Postal Service is even more important. It's the only way some small businesses can reach customers. It's the only way some families can get essentials while social distancing. And with the November elections around the corner, voting by mail is the best way for Americans to vote safely and securely. But President Donald Trump's new postmaster general is changing procedures and inexplicably overhauling Postal Service leadership in ways that have led to a disastrous problem for our country: Massive mail delays. It's unacceptable. We must fund the Postal Service and ensure our communities have access to on time mail delivery in advance of November. [Add your name if you're with me to save the United States Postal Service -- please take a moment to sign our urgent petition.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( Instead of urging the passage of the HEROES ACT into law, which includes $25 billion in funding to save the United States Postal Service, Trump's postmaster is playing a dangerous political game with the nation's mail. Trump's postmaster has even informed states that they'll need to pay first-class 55-cent postage to mail ballots to voters, rather than the normal 20-cent bulk rate. That nearly triples the per-ballot cost at a time when tens of millions more mail-in ballots will be delivered, placing an even bigger burden on cash-strapped states. Free and fair elections are essential for the well-being of our democracy. We must fund USPS and ensure our communities have access to on time mail delivery in advance of November. [Please join me and tell Congress to save the United States Postal Service.]( [SIGN THE PETITION]( I won't let partisan politics take down the Postal Service, and I hope you won't either.
