If FWS insists on pushing forward with an appeal to delist wolves in the lower 48, all hell could break lose. Help us be ready to rush to their defense! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [header logo with donate button]( [Gray Wolf Adult and Pup in tall green grass © Betty4240/iStockphoto]( Defender, Just a few years ago, Defenders celebrated a landmark victory that would keep gray wolves throughout much of our nation safe – but that victory is in grave danger. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is scheduled to notify the Court next week as to whether the administration will move forward in defending a prior attempt to strip away federal Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves. Those protections have already been stripped away in some states in the Northern Rockies – and absolutely horrific tragedies have followed. [Help us stop the killing from spreading. Rush a donation now to help us hit our goal of $48,000 before midnight to save as many lives as we can!]( Wolves have already been gunned down in the snow from helicopters, slowly strangled to death over hours – even, in one case, run over with a snowmobile, paraded around and then shot in the head. These atrocities were all made legal in recent years by anti-wolf extremists and legislators. If the safety net for gray wolves is slashed, just imagine what kind of grisly violence will follow. We’ve won major victories for wolves before, and we refuse to abandon wolves in this moment. We’re kicking off an all-out effort to fight any attempt to gut federal protections for wolves – make sure we have the resources to succeed by pitching in by our deadline tonight! [HELP NEEDED: SAVE WOLVES TODAY!]( Our beloved wildlife never needed us more. Thank you for doing your part to keep them safe.
