Gray wolves are in danger across the lower 48 states, and we need you to respond! Gray wolves are in danger across the lower 48 states, and we need you to respond! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Defender- Within days we’ll know what’s next in the fight to save vulnerable gray wolves – and we must be ready for every outcome. Right now, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is weighing whether to appeal a courtroom victory for wolves that was led by Defenders. If they decide to double down on trying to remove protections, we’ll be in an all-out fight to save gray wolves across the lower 48 states. We’ve seen what’s happened in states where wolves have already been delisted: Unchecked bloodshed, strangulation snares, and even cruelly chased and run over by snowmobiles. We need your help to stop the madness from spreading unabated. Whatever happens this week, we need to be ready to defend gray wolves everywhere! [Help us reach $48k to save gray wolves across the lower 48: Pitch in before wolves are impacted this Friday!!]( - Mike --------------------------------------------------------------- From: Defenders of Wildlife Sent: Monday, September 9, 2024 1:08 PM To: Mike Senatore Subject: We’ve seen this before. It was a killing spree. EXTERNAL SENDER [header logo with donate button]( [Gray Wolf Headshot © AB Photography/iStockphoto]( Mike, The future of gray wolves is on the line. By September 13th, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is due to decide if it is going to fight a court decision that restored federal Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves throughout most of the lower 48 states. If the government decides to abandon these wolves, it will be up to Defenders and our supporters to save them from destruction. Let’s be clear — delisting is a death sentence for countless wolves, and we must fight that outcome at all costs. That’s why we’re mounting a massive effort to fight back. We’re issuing a challenge to our most dedicated Defenders: [Wolves need us to be ready for whatever FWS throws at them – Will you help us raise $48,000 to protect wolves in the lower 48 states by September 13th?]( [CHALLENGE ACCEPTED: DONATE NOW]( Defenders and our allies already achieved victory by overturning the Trump administration’s 11th hour delisting attempt just a few years ago. The current administration has a duty to protect wildlife, but fighting against wolf protections would betray animals that desperately need our help. We’ve seen the devastation delisting causes firsthand. In 2021, after wolves were delisted in Wisconsin, a massive ‘killing spree’ began. Hunters killed 225 wolves in just 72 hours – nearly a third of all gray wolves in the state. This tragedy is a grim preview of what could happen if gray wolves are delisted once again. We won’t stand for more destruction. [Are you up for the challenge? Give $50 right now and help raise $48,000 to protect wolves in the lower 48 states before September 13.]( Together, we can ensure a future for wolves.
