Without immediate protections, right whale mothers and calves will continue to die. Join us to end this crisis! Without immediate protections, right whale mothers and calves will continue to die. Join us to end this crisis! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [header logo with donate button]( [North Atlantic Right Whale and Calf © NOAA/NMFS]( [North Atlantic right whales are approaching the brink of extinction. Join us in our fight to save mother whales and their calves!]( Defender, We’re approaching the last chance to save North Atlantic right whales from extinction: 41 of these endangered whales have been confirmed dead and 36 more have been mortally injured since 2017. That leaves just about 360 surviving in the world. Without immediate action, we will see this species dwindle away to the last whale before they disappear forever. This is the moment to fight back! We’re ramping up our campaign to get these whales the protection they need, and we need your help! [Pitch in right away to empower efforts to save North Atlantic right whales and other imperiled wildlife from extinction. Their fate is in our hands!]( This catastrophe has gotten so bad that there’s a name for it: Unusual Mortality Event. The National Marine Fisheries Service has recognized that so many whales are injured and dying from vessel strikes and fishing gear entanglements that it’s an official crisis. But action is coming too slowly to save these whales – and some members of Congress are actively making things worse. Senators Joe Manchin and Lindsey Graham just introduced a bill that would block the Biden administration from expanding vessel speed protections. If this bill becomes law, it would doom North Atlantic right whales to a painful death. [Don’t let them get away with sentencing right whales to extinction. Make your gift now to take them on!]( We’re taking up the fight against pro-extinction legislation. Our legal experts and scientists are pulling out all the stops to save these whales. Help make sure they succeed by lending your support right now! [SAVE RIGHT WHALES]( Defender, thank you for understanding the threats against our nation’s vulnerable wildlife, and for joining us in keeping them safe.
