Dear Defender, An icon of the American west, the greater sage-grouse, is slowly disappearing. It’s not too late to turn things around: [Sign a letter to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) urging them to protect the habitat these birds need to survive!]( The BLM is asking the public to comment on their draft plans to protect greater sage-grouse and, specifically, on whether the BLM should designate Areas of Critical Environmental Concern Recognizing sage-grouse habitat as ACECs would provide stronger conservation for sage-grouse habitats and give the bird a stronger foundation for recovery. We need to act quickly to save these birds – make sure the BLM hears from you today! [SIGN TO PROTECT THE SAGE-GROUSE]( Sage-grouse need our help: Their populations have declined by at least 80% since 1965 and 41% in the last two decades. As industries like oil and gas continue to eat away at their habitat, their future is uncertain. We can put them on a better path. It only takes a moment to use your voice to deliver a better future for sage-grouse. The deadline to comment is approaching fast. [There’s still time to act: Urge the BLM to protect vital habitat for the greater sage-grouse today!]( Thank you for helping us create a better world for wildlife.
