After decades of pollution and oil spills, just a few dozen Rice’s whales still survive. In honor of Earth Day, your gift goes 3x as far to keep them safe! ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Oil Rig Fire © US Coast Guard - 100421-G-XXXXL | Oil Soaked Brown Pelican - Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill © Charlie Riedel/AP Photo | Rice's Whale © NOAA Fisheries]( Defender, Of all the destructive things humans do to our planet, few are more horrifying than the reality of an oil spill. Just months ago, over a million gallons of crude oil coated the waters of the Gulf of Mexico – in the home range of animals like the critically endangered Rice’s whale. The threat is clear: Oil companies will continue to destroy our wild world in their hunt for private profits. We need to show that we won’t let them sacrifice our beloved wildlife for their greed! [Defend our Earth! Pitch in with your most generous gift today, and we’ll match your gift to TRIPLE your impact in defense of the animals that need us most!]( Rice’s whales are already fighting for their lives. One in five whales were killed in another high-profile oil disaster, the catastrophic 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill. Over 87 anguishing days, four million gallons of oil gushed into the fragile Gulf of Mexico. That oil stuck to the skin of marine wildlife – birds, sea turtles, dolphins and whales. It poisoned the food they ate and the water they drank, killing some quickly and others over months and years. Nearly 15 years later and we’re still defending our planet against Big Oil’s greed. Their threats continue – but we are determined to keep fighting! [Pitch in with your emergency Earth Day gift to defend wildlife and homes, while your generosity goes 3X as far!]( We mounted an emergency response during the Deepwater Horizon crisis, and we’re ringing the alarm once again. Now we need your help to hold industry polluters responsible before they push even more animals to the edge of extinction. Wildlife are counting on us to save them before it’s too late. Don’t let Big Oil kill off even more animals: Pitch in today to make 3X the difference for whales and all wildlife in peril! [MAKE 3X THE IMPACT]( Thank you for leading our wild world back from the edge of destruction.
