Wolverines need our help. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ â€

Wolverines need our help. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Defender, I wanted to flag Jamie’s message for you. After a decades-long battle to protect wolverines, these rare animals are facing yet another onslaught from anti-wildlife extremists — just months after being granted Endangered Species Act protections. We need to take immediate action to defend wolverines from this latest threat. [Will you make a gift today to defend imperiled species fighting for survival against a rapidly changing climate?]( - Mike --------------------------------------------------------------- From: Jamie Rappaport Clark, DOW Sent: Monday, March 18, 2024 9:03 AM To: Mike Senatore Subject: No snow = no wolverines EXTERNAL SENDER [Wolverine Headshot © Pixabay]( Mike, It’s a simple and terrifying equation. No snow = no wolverines. As snowpack in the West dwindles to record lows, species like the wolverine who rely on their frozen habitat are in grave danger. [We’re coming to their defense: Will you make a gift today to fight back for vulnerable wildlife struggling to survive?]( In November 2023, after a decades-long fight, wolverines were added to the Endangered Species Act. But now, less than four months later, anti-wildlife extremists in Idaho and Montana are threatening to sue to strip away the wolverine’s hard-won protections. We’ve seen it time and again. We win. They fight back. [Donate now to stand up and hold the line for wolverines and other threatened wildlife.]( [DONATE]( With record-breaking temperatures and rapidly melting snowpack, it is dangerous to cut protections for animals whose very survival depends on snowy habitats. Wolverines used to roam as far south as the Rockies of New Mexico and California’s southern Sierra Nevada. But after more than a century of rapidly rising temperatures, habitat loss, and deadly trapping and poisoning, they only live in five states. Defenders fought relentlessly for two decades to protect wolverines under the ESA. We worked on the Hill and in the courts, petitioning the government and taking legal action to defend this rare species. We can’t give up these protections for wolverines now. We must stand up and fight back for all species imperiled by a warming world. [Will you chip in today to be a voice for the voiceless and help protect wildlife?]( Thank you for all you do, Jamie Rappaport Clark CEO and President Defenders of Wildlife [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [YouTube]( Defenders of Wildlife 1130 17th Street NW • Washington, DC 20036 defenders.org --------------------------------------------------------------- Photo credit: Wolverine © Pixabay This email was sent to mike@defenders.org Please do not respond to this email.
