But as we celebrate Jewish contributions to our society, Ron DeSantis is working to prevent a generation from ever learning about the strength of diversity and why it makes our country so unique and prosperous. Just last week he signed a bill banning Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in public colleges. In addition, the GOP-led Legislature passed three bills in the past year disproportionately banning books and educational material that showcase Black, Jewish, women and LGBTQ+ stories in our state. The laws are so vague and discriminatory that many teachers are unable to instruct on books like Maus and The Diary of Anne Frank. [Will you sign my petition to stop these attacks on diversity within our educational system before Jewish American Heritage Month is over?]( [Sign on]( It’s simple: Banning books is a form of educational segregation. It is a way for extremists to create a world isolated from Jewish, Black and other minority communities. It invites extremists to harass Black, Jewish, LGBTQ and other minority students and teachers. With antisemetism exponentially escalating here and around the world, banning books that educate on the horrors of the Holocaust allows the spread of misinformation and amplifies conspiracy theories at Jewish communities' expense. It leads to propaganda, violence and sometimes even death. But we can stop this together. [By working across communities to educate and advocate, we can build a future without antisemitism and discrimination.
