We’ve lost too many bright futures—too many of our kids and family members—to senseless acts of gun violence. I am sickened that Republicans continue to kowtow to the gun lobby while our families suffer. My Democratic colleagues and I fought for the first common sense gun reform in years to be passed into law. But so much more needs to be done. We need to ban assault weapons and we need to have background checks not just for guns, but for ammunition as well which is why I introduced legislation to do just that.
