# {NAME} – In honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we must come together to remember

# {NAME} – In honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we must come together to remember the countless lives lost to gun violence and recommit to building a safer America for all. There is no place in America that is safe from the epidemic of gun violence: our churches, our temples, our schools, our movie theaters, our dance halls, our streets. Nearly every community in America has been affected by senseless gun violence. Enough is enough. We must act. I’m proud of the gun violence legislation we have been able to get across the finish line here in California during my time in the State Senate. And I remain committed to pushing for aggressive solutions for gun violence prevention when I am elected to Congress. [Now, I need you to join me in calling for federal action: Add your name to call for a national assault weapons ban to get weapons of war off the street.]( [SIGN ON]( 2,000 Signatures Needed Congress passed an assault weapons ban nearly 30 years ago, and as a result, the rate of gun massacres plummeted across the county. But, when Republicans allowed the ban to expire, mass shootings rose dramatically once again. Let’s be clear: this is entirely a political problem. Our gun violence epidemic is a direct result of the outrageously lax gun regulations we have in place, pushed by extremist politicians who are beholden to the NRA. We are the only country on this planet that endures gun violence of this kind. And we are the only country that allows widespread, easy access to firearms. But this doesn’t have to be our reality, {NAME}. I refuse to stand by while Americans everywhere continue to lose loved ones to senseless, preventable violence. This month and every month, I remain committed to ending gun violence once and for all. [An assault weapons ban worked in 1993, and it’ll work today. It’s time to finish the job. Add your name right away to join our call to action:]( [SIGN ON]( 2,000 Signatures Needed Let’s keep working towards a day when we no longer live in fear, {NAME}. He's taken action to address the climate crisis, implement common sense gun safety reforms and rebuild our economy and community in the wake of the pandemic. Now, he's running for Congress to ensure that all families have a shot at the American Dream.
