DataCamp Weekly
Issue #17 â October 3, 2017
Hi, we have two big announcements this week. The first is that we have a brand new community section! More on that below. The second is that we are doing a Facebook Live Code Along session next Tuesday! DataCampâs Hugo Bowne-Anderson will be going over how to create a data science pipeline in Python to plot word frequency distribution histograms for the novel Moby Dick. Learn how to use tools such as Requests, BeautifulSoup & Natural Language Toolkit (nltk) live where you can ask questions as you code along with Hugo.
The event will be hosted on our [Facebook page]( on October 10th at 11AM ET. If you canât make it, donât worry! Weâll make the video and the [Jupyter Notebook]( available to you. Let us know if youâll be watching on our [event page!](

[New DataCamp Community!](
As mentioned above, weâve completely redesigned our Community section. You are now able to browse our content via tags, Latest, Must-Read as well as by type (Cheat Sheets, Tutorials, Open Courses, Tech thoughts). We invite you to check it out and let us know what you think! We think youâll enjoy it.

[Hierarchical indices, groupby and pandas](
This tutorial covers multi-indices for pandas DataFrames and how they arise naturally from groupby operations on real-world data sets. This tutorial by Hugo Bowne-Anderson goes over a handful of different data sets.

[Keras Cheat Sheet: Deep Learning in Python](
DataCampâs Karlijn Willems contributed to KDnuggets this week by deconstructing the Keras Cheat Sheet for Deep Learning in Python. Great read on the most important components of the Keras package.

[Using Scrapy to Build your Own Dataset](
Part of the learning process to become a data scientist comes with experimenting on your own datasets. This tutorial will show you how to leverage Scrapy, one of the most popular scraping tools, to create your own dataset. This tutorial contains a text & video version.

[Finding Relationship Between Variables â ANOVA Test](
DataCamp subscriber bhaskarjit is back with another article. This time the focus is on when and how to conduct an ANOVA test in python. The ANOVA test is a statistical method used to test differences between two or more means. Great read to expand your skills in statistics.

[Learn, Practice, Apply!](
DataCampâs mission doesnât just stop with helping you learn, but goes beyond that: to help you attain proficiency, and apply the skills you have learned. This post by DataCampâs Ramnath Vaidyanathan is a testament to our focus on helping people learn by doing, and keeping them highly engaged during the learning process.

[Apache Arrow and the '10 Things I Hate About pandas'](
A very popular piece by Wes McKinney on some of the shortcomings of pandas, and how Arrow may or may not solve some of those. In this post, Wes lays out his vision and work from the past 10 years, as well as the future of data science tools.

[How Good is That Random Number Generator?](
Interesting post on how to visually measure how good a RNG is. The test consists of plotting each randomly generated number on a spherical plot. If the RNG is good, it will plot a sphere, otherwise, a pattern will emerge. Short & interesting read.
