Men’s Sales Handful]() --------------------------------------------------------------- - [Winter Clearance Keeps Rolling, New Nordy Rack Arrivals, & More – The Thurs. Men’s Sales Handful](#1) - [Style Scenario: Hoodie and Sneakers… without looking sloppy](#2) - [How to Spend it: So you got a gift card to J. Crew](#3) [Winter Clearance Keeps Rolling, New Nordy Rack Arrivals, & More – The Thurs. Five of the better sales are below, plus bonus sales if need be. Included are a few picks worth pointing out. [Nordstrom RACK: New Arrivals]( [Nordstrom Rack menswear]( - [J. Crew Garment Dyed Pocket T-shirt – $14.97]( ($29.50) - [Made in the USA Shinola Leather Guardian Briefcase – $335.98]( ($895) - [adidas Continental 80 – $44.97]( ($80) - [adidas Gazelle – $44.97]( ($80) - [adidas Ultraboost 20 – $99.97]( ($180) - [Rodd and Gunn Elsthorpe Italian Wool Blazer – $139.97]( ($398) Since it’s The Rack, new arrivals = new items on sale. Like those J. Crew t-shirts. Pretty sure those are mainline J. Crew and not Factory? I think? Also, that Rodd and Gunn Italian Wool blazer looks like it could be a (really) affordable alternative to the Bonobos Unconstructed Italian wool blazer. Does look lined though, and since it’s Nordstrom Rack, returns through the mail/UPS aren’t free. It’ll cost you $5.95 in the form of a pre-paid label if you can’t or don’t want to muscle it back to a physical Nordy Rack location. Also, free outbound shipping doesn’t kick in until $89. So know that too. [Bonobos: New spring arrivals starting to roll in]( [Bonobos spring menswear arrivals]( - [The WFHQ Pant – $118]( - [Extra Stretch Travel Jeans – $98]( (now 94% Cotton, 4% Polyester, 2% Elastane) - [The Off Duty Pant – $98]( - [Unconstructed Italian Linen Blazer – $450]( Bonobos has been quiet with the codes and promos as of late. And these are JUST in, so, holding off could net some savings the next time a code or a promo comes around. And check out those The WFHQ pants. They appear to be sweats (check out [this close up]( only cut to look like a dress pant. Didn’t some other brand do this a few years back? Was it [Betabrand](? Can’t quite recall. But here comes Bonobos with that look. Noticeable elastic waist in the back though. So, know that. BUT. I mean, wear that linen blazer and nobody is gonna know! Right? [Huckberry: Winter Sale is still rolling along]( [Huckberry menswear]( - [Tala Knuckle Table Lamp – $139.98]( ($165) - [Suit Mick Parka – $134.98]( ($269) - [Hill City Train 1/2 Zip – $47.98]( FINAL ($88) this is one of the few (only?) final sale items in this sale - [Made in the USA Tanner Goods Classic Belt – $67.98]( ($105) - [SeaVees Coronado Boot Huckberry Exclusive – $111.98]( ($160) - [Proof Stealth Down Popover – $131.98]( ($188) - [Made in the USA Rancourt & Co. Wolf Boot – $256.98]( ($395) - [Filson Down Cruiser Vest – $178.98]( ($275) - [Huckberry x Timex “Cola” Sport Watch exclusive – $131.98]( ($189) The sooner this thing ends the better for my somewhat futile attempts to contain my own personal impulse control over it. High quality, great looking goods that know how to perform in the elements. Additional-ish picks above had at least a decent size selection at post time for the handful. [Full picks can be found here](, although a lot of those are sold out now. [Nordstrom Up to 50% off Winter Sale (ends 2/21)]( [Nordstrom menswear]( - [Barbour ‘Powell’ Regular Fit Quilted Jacket – $150]( ($300) - [1901 Fleece Shirt Jacket – $29.70]( ($49) - [Nordstrom Cashmere Fringe Scarf – $35.80]( ($89.50) - [The North Face ThermoBall Eco Packable Jacket – $99.50]( ($199) Another big sale that’s ongoing. It’s set to expire Sunday. WHAT happens on Sunday? No idea. Maybe they ship this stuff off to Nordstrom Rack where free shipping no minimum and free returns through the mail don’t apply anymore? [Full picks here](, but this sale has been picked over, bad. Like, I think crows are starting to peck at it. This thing is all but toast. [For a lady in your life: 38mm Timex Q Expansion Band Watch – $189]( [38mm Timex Q Expansion Band Watch]( Well that’s pretty cool. 38mm here. Rose gold tone. Now, there IS something worth borrowing from this ladies version of the Q and moving it over to the men’s version… it’s the expansion band. No, not the exact pink and gold band. Not that. But the expansion style/stretchiness. A lot of guys seem to have trouble with the current, mesh-style band that’s on the Q, because for some it can rip at arm/wrist hair. So maybe a stretchy, flat link expansion band (in a standard stainless steel) on the men’s version would be the answer? Also worth a mention: - [Huckberry]( They’ve restocked three colors of their hugely popular, made in the USA trucker jackets. - [Kent Wang](: [$50 off shoes](. - [Spier and Mackay](: Extra 20% off sale items w/ EOS20 - [Banana Republic](: Extra 60% off sale styles. ff/Dappered?a=NFTF7yELXJ0:2oqDqkzKDu8:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=NFTF7yELXJ0:2oqDqkzKDu8:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=NFTF7yELXJ0:2oqDqkzKDu8:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Style Scenario: Hoodie and Sneakers… without looking sloppy](r/Dappered/~3/SOARwbdVH1A/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 17 Feb 2021 02:00 PM PST Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head [here]( to learn more. What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. There’s a difference between intentionally dressing down, and going full “I give up” in oversized sweats and [slides](. Here’s the proof, awkwardly modeled above by someone who has railed against hoodies for years. [Hoodie and Sneakers 2021] The Hoodie: [Amazon Goodthreads Men’s Merino Blend Lightweight Hoodie – $45](. Loose the bulk and skip the terry/cotton fleece options. Go instead with a lightweight, strong, breathable, merino blend like this one. There’s a huge difference between [this]( and [this](. The Pants: [Banana Republic Aiden Slim Core Temp Pant in Jupiter Gray – $58]( ($98). Yes, chinos. Slim but not skinny chinos. Chinos instead of track pants or joggers. BR’s core temp line is still plenty comfortable, with their “Core Temp” fabric keeping your temperature regulated. Yet losing the elastic waist goes a long way to making you look (and feel) more put together. They’re a favorite for a reason. You can dress them up with a dress shirt and sportcoat, or dress them down as seen in this style scenario. The Watch: [Seiko Samurai Dive Watch – $353](. Or whatever your favorite diver happens to be. Cheap, mid-price, expensive, whatever. They’re just so darn versatile. And they go great when dressed down with a hoodie and chinos. The T-shirt: [Amazon Peak Velocity Men’s Tech-Vent Short Sleeve T-Shirt – $17](. You’ve got a super comfortable, temperature regulating merino blend hoodie. And then you’ve got the core temp pants, which are engineered to ALSO keep you at the perfect temp. Don’t ruin it with an all cotton t-shirt. Go with your favorite well fitting tech-tee. The Socks: [Bombas Merino Wool Sock – $19](. Bombas are legit. Their merino wool socks are high-quality, durable, breathable, and have just enough cushioning. The Shoes: [Asics Gel-Quantum 360 5 – $79.95]( ($150). Future shoes! Yes, they’re a “sport style” sneaker, but unlike other sport-style sneakers (looking at you Killshots), these are actually supportive and well cushioned. I know. Crazy, right? 21st century design without looking like some purposely-fugly designer sneaker. After all those hard workouts and keeping active, treat your feet to good, down-time sneakers. The Chair: [Amazon Stone and Beam Bradbury Chesterfield Tufted Leather Chair – $970](. A serious investment, but noticeably more affordable than other leather chesterfields out there. Plus, many of us have invested in our home’s style this past year. Right? Sold and shipped by Amazon. More comfortable than the sneakers. It’s fun. And comfortable. And looks great. People love it (not that we’re having any visitors). Added to the post because I figured some of you guys would ask. ff/Dappered?a=SOARwbdVH1A:u8jjNQMFpP4:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=SOARwbdVH1A:u8jjNQMFpP4:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=SOARwbdVH1A:u8jjNQMFpP4:gIN9vFwOqvQ [How to Spend it: So you got a gift card to J. Crew](r/Dappered/~3/QaGUhUQsxI4/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:00 AM PST Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Also, we take your privacy rights seriously. Head [here]( to learn more. Per [Fortune Magazine](, gift card giving was up, WAY up during the 2020 holiday season. I’d be willing to bet that a large percentage of us Dappered readers received some of that fantastic plastic. Yet each year, over $3 billion in gift cards go unused(!!). We’re here to change that. (I know, what an altruistic bunch we are. [No?]() In our annual series titled [How to Spend It](, we’re curating a bunch of items from a selection of stores you might/most likely got a gift card to (some very Dappered-y, some less so because Aunt Karen wasn’t sure). Our goal is to show you what’s worth it at various price points. You CAN spend it all in one place, dear! Brand Note: If you’ve been a Dappered reader for any length of time, you know that J.Crew has been going through a rough retail break-up throughout 2019 and 2020. Filing for bankruptcy in the early days of the Coronavirus pandemic, they successfully emerged from a heavy debt restructuring plan at the end of 2020’s Q3 with a renewed focus and a pocket full of corporate capital cash to back it. The real-world results of this buyout remain to be seen, but from *this* couch, I’ve seen frequent large discount coupon codes and have purchased quite a few items this past year. As usual, stock up on their elevated basics when they’re on sale and snatch up any of the limited-edition collaboration items whenever they’re available in your size and within your budget. Under $50 [j.crew gift card under $50] - [Performance no-show socks – $10/pair](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/socks/noshow/performance-noshow-socks/H4613?color_name=hthr-charcoal) - [Pack of three nonmedical face masks – $18.00](//www.jcrew.com/m/mens_feature/newarrivals2/accessories/pack-of-three-nonmedical-face-masks-in-mixed-prints/MP416?color_name=gingham-and-multi-stripe) - [Slub jersey T-shirt in Deck Stripe – $36.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/justin/slub-jersey-tshirt-in-deck-stripe/AH885?color_name=mountain-white) - [Garment-dyed slub cotton long-sleeve T-shirt – $39.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/tshirts/garmentdyed-slub-cotton-longsleeve-tshirt/AH247?color_name=baywood-green) - [Blue-light glasses – $39.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/sunglasses/bluelight-glasses/AX341?color_name=crystal-clear) (review [here]() - [English linen pocket square – $42.00](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/tiesandpocketsquares/pocketsquares/english-linen-pocket-square/73871?color_name=white) - [Garment-dyed slub cotton Henley – $45](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/tshirts/garmentdyed-slub-cotton-henley/AR863?color_name=white) - [Boarding Pass NYC Hey Handsome shaving kit bag – $49](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/brandswelove/bags/boarding-pass-nyc-hey-handsome-shaving-kit-bag/L4765?color_name=grey) Elevated basics fill the sub-$50 tier and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with their slub cotton tees, garment dyed Henley shirts, and some of their excellent third-party collaboration merch. Personally, I like to stock up on the garment dyed slub cotton pocket tees when they go on clearance; they frequently drop to under $10 a piece! From $50-$100 [j.crew gift card 50 to 100] - [Vans for J.Crew washed canvas authentic sneakers – $60](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/brandswelove/shoes/vans-for-jcrew-washed-canvas-authentic-sneakers/17554?color_name=dark-navy) - [Stretch Secret Wash shirt in organic cotton – $42.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/shirts/stretch-secret-wash-shirt-in-organic-cotton-gingham/AA265?color_name=van-buren-gingham-navy-h) ($69.50) - [Rugby crewneck shirt in chest stripe – $69.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals/justin/rugby-crewneck-shirt-in-chest-stripe/AU868?color_name=eng-maritime-stripe) - [New Balance X J.Crew Comp 100 sneakers – $75](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/shoes_sneakers/sneakers/new-balance-x-jcrew-comp-100-sneakers/AM064?color_name=shadow-blue) - [484 Slim-fit or 770 Straight-fit stretch chino pants – $79.50](//www.jcrew.com/c/mens_category/pants) - [Slim stretch organic cotton chambray shirt – $47.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/justin/slim-stretch-organic-cotton-chambray-shirt-in-light-wash/AA163?color_name=core-chambray) ($79.50) - [Cotton-silk pique sweater – $59.50](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals/justin/cottonsilk-pique-sweater/AW510?color_name=hthr-sand) ($89.50) - [484 Slim-fit garment-dyed five-pocket pants – $98](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/justin/484-slimfit-garmentdyed-fivepocket-pant/AS007?color_name=faded-dill) J.Crew’s pricing structure tends to ride an $80-100 median price point, so the bulk of their “classic” items should fall within this price tier. If you’re needing a newer, more casual wardrobe, then I highly recommend their stretch chinos, stretch five-pocket pants, and lightweight sweaters and hoodies for staying comfortable while working from home. No one should be able to see your shoes on Zoom, so rock those Vans! NOTE: Almost all of this stuff should drop significantly with J. Crew’s frequent 30%-40% off codes. The basics can get excluded from promos, but more often than not are included. From $100-$200 [j.crew gift card 100 to 200] - [Casio G-Shock DW5610SU-3 resin watch – $100](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/brandswelove/accessories/casio-gshock-dw5610su3-resin-green-watch/M5824?color_name=dark-grey) - [484 Slim-fit or 770 Straight-fit jeans – $128](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/denim/770-straightfit-jean-in-resin-rinse/AQ588?color_name=resin-rinse) - [Everyday cashmere crewneck sweater – $138+](//www.jcrew.com/m/mens_category/sweaters/pullover/everyday-cashmere-crewneck-sweater/MP284?color_name=hthr-ocean-stripe) - [Quoddy® boat shoes – $180](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/brandswelove/shoes/quoddy-boat-shoes/M4510?color_name=whiskey) - [Sussex quilted jacket with PrimaLoft – $148](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/coatsandjackets/sussex-quilted-jacket-with-primaloft/AQ431?color_name=evergreen-moss) - [Wallace & Barnes Slim-fit chore blazer – $150](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/sportcoatsandvests/casual_blazers/wallace-barnes-slimfit-chore-blazer-in-cottonlinen/G6710?color_name=skylark-blue) - [Brunswick rain jacket – $158](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals/justin/brunswick-rain-jacket/AJ375?color_name=manor-blue) - [Everyday cashmere hoodie – $168](//www.jcrew.com/m/mens_feature/newarrivals/justin/everyday-cashmere-hoodie/MP285?color_name=navy) Outerwear and shoes tend to fill this tier, although some of their great third-party merch from Quoddy, New Balance, and even Casio’s G-Shock line is available here. I’m a big fan of their in-house Wallace & Barnes label, which tends to skew into the heritage or Americana workwear aesthetic like a budget version of Ralph’s Double RL. From $200+ [j.crew gift card 200+] - [Ludlow Slim-fit or Classic-fit unstructured suit jacket in English wool-cotton – $248](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/sportcoatsandvests/suitingblazers/ludlow-classicfit-unstructured-suit-jacket-in-english-woolcotton/AA338?color_name=navy) - [Kenton leather cap-toe boots – $149.99](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/shoes_sneakers/boots/kenton-leather-captoe-boots/AS813?color_name=burnished-tobacco) w/ SHOPNOW ($298) (review [here]() - [Barbour Sylkoil Ashby jacket in “Navy” – $415](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/brandswelove/outerwear/barbour-sylkoil-ashby-jacket/A0999?color_name=navy) - [R.M. Williams X J.Crew Gifford boots in “Bark” leather – $545](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_feature/newarrivals2/justin/rm-williams-x-jcrew-gifford-boots-in-leather/AR928?color_name=bark) - [Ludlow Slim-fit Italian wool suit jacket – $425](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/suits_tuxedos/ludlowpremiumsuit/ludlow-slimfit-suit-jacket-with-double-vent-in-italian-wool/28130?color_name=caspian-sea) & [suit pant – $225](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/suits_tuxedos/ludlowpremiumsuit/ludlow-slimfit-suit-pant-in-italian-wool/43966?color_name=caspian-sea) If you pool your gift cards together towards one of these fantastic pairs of shoes, boots, suiting, or that “buy it for life” Barbour jacket, you’re doing J.Crew the right way. I’m fairly certain the Kenton line of boots and shoes is made for J.Crew by Grant Stone or at least it’s a white label in a similar factory. Very, very good quality. Those RM Williams Chelsea boots are on my wish list for 2021, in case anyone out there is feeling generous. Note that 3rd party items are often (but not always) excluded from codes. Yet their in-house shoes like their Kenton or Ludlow line CAN be up for some codes and promos. So play your cards right, and you can net some serious savings. Suits go on sale too, but not very often. So you might have to wait a bit on that [Caspian Sea Italian wool number](//www.jcrew.com/p/mens_category/suits_tuxedos/ludlowpremiumsuit/ludlow-slimfit-suit-jacket-with-double-vent-in-italian-wool/28130?color_name=caspian-sea).
