[Ledbury: New Masks (men, women, kids)](
[Ledbury Facemasks](
- [The Kent Trio 3-Layer Antibacterial Cotton Mask Mixed Chambray 3-Pack – $25](
- [The Hope 3-Layer Navy Floral Print Cotton Mask With Pocket – $18](
- [The Hope 3-Layer Multi-Black Floral Print Cotton Mask With Pocket – $18](
Big fan of these. It’s either these or [the Huckberry merinos]( when we step away from the Dappered Home offices. Men’s masks, women’s masks, KIDS masks, chambray masks, jersey fabric masks, 3-packs of masks, fancy fabric masks cut in a diamond shape with a nose band… gotta hand it to Ledbury. They’ve really knocked this out of the park. Get the lady in your life a mask. Get your kids (or the neighbor kids or whoever) a mask. Get YOURSELF a mask. For goodness sake just get a mask and wear it. [It’s working](. And we gotta keep it up.
[Allen Edmonds: Extra 30% off select sale styles](
- [Bond Street Cap-Toe Oxford – $139.97]( ($425)Â
- [Cornwallis Dress Oxford – $174.97]( ($395)Â
- [Mackenna Plain-Toe Blucher with Dainite Sole – $90.97]( ($345)Â
- [Independence Collection Jefferson 2.0 Wingtip Oxford – $174.97]( ($530)
- [Fifth Avenue Cap-Toe Oxford – $209.30]( $244.30 ($395)
- [Sea Island Suede Loafer – $125.97]( ($295)Â
AE’s [fifth ave](, a timeless, USA Made dress cap toe oxford for just under $210? UPDATE: They “raised” the sale price of the 5ths over night… just to mark them down in the morning. Bummer. Didn’t think AE would do that. Naive on my part. They were at $299 in the sale section yesterday. Now they’re $349. And thus, not as good of a net price. Still a nice price on the shoe though. Ships and returns for free too. Also, Bond Streets for $140 and the Cornwallis for $175 is super tempting.
[J. Crew: Extra 50% – 70% off sale and final sale items w/ EPIC](
[J. Crew Kenton Boat Shoes in Suede](
The Pick: [Kenton boat shoes in suede – $70.49]( ($198)Â
Gahhhhh… why they gotta be final sale? C’mon J. Crew. That’s a really tough ask. Especially on what basically amounts to a loafer. Sure you can cinch them up a bit with the rawhide laces, but still. Final sale? Ouch. Best to ignore if you’re unsure. [Head here for the full review](.
Also worth a mention:
- [Todd Snyder](//www.toddsnyder.com/collections/sale): Extra 20% off sale items w/ SUMMER20

What are you going to wear? Sometimes itâs good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. Thatâs what these are for. In the midst of international travel bans and sketchy sanitation in airports and airplanes, the great American road trip is seeing a revival like none other. Hit the road this summer to escape the cabin fever. Make smart choices with your lodging, and take proper precautions. Safety first. Pack lots of masks. But when in the car, keeping comfortable yet alert is paramount. Stay ready for whatever the road brings with a single outfit to last you 4-8 hours in the car, plus snacks, beverages, and entertainment. And whatever you do, donât be in a rush. Be safe to yourself and everyone else on the road. Youâll get there eventually â enjoy the ride.
[Style Scenario Summer Road Trip 2020]
The Shirt: [Flint & Tinder Made in the USA Supima Air Knit Polo in Black – $58](.  A polo shirt keeps you ready for just about any stop you might make along your journey. Dressing better improves your mood, too, and a long day in a car calls for a mood booster. With [some studies showing darker colors are optimal](~:text=When%20all%20that%20body%20heat,right%20back%20towards%20the%20body.&text=The%20best%20color%20to%20keep,instead%20of%20reflecting%20it%20back.) to wear in the summer (wait… what?), opt for this flattering athletic-fit Flint & Tinder polo in black. 100% supima cotton in a âbaby jerseyâ knit. Soft feel with a a vintage-look. Not super slick or polished, so it keeps things casual for a day in the car, but just enough extra style for those impromptu stops. Made in the USA to boot; perfect for the great American road trip.
The Shorts: [Bonobos Stretch Lightweight Chino Short in Nickel – $78](. Think Bonobos lightweight chino pants but…short. Mind-blowing. Right? Same superb fit and finish, with all of the sizing options available in their longer-legged brethren. Spendy, but worth the price if Bonobos is your best fit. Keep your bottom half cool and comfortable with these lightweight shorts in a neutral color like “Nickel.” And, when paired with a properly fitted black polo, you have a trim masculine look.
The Sunglasses: [Warby Parker Sutton in Walnut Tortoise – $95](. Retro cool in a modern interpretation, built with quality materials at a proper price. This is what Warby Parker does. Keyhole bridge and a whiskey tortoise acetate frame give your outfit some much needed pop. In a brighter ensemble, this pair might push you over the top. But, for this more reserved look, these are an ideal splash of color. Polarized frames help keep your eyes comfortable behind the wheel all day long.
The Watch: [Seiko 5 Automatic Black Dial on Black Canvas Strap – $80](//www.jomashop.com/seiko-watch-snk809.html). A simple, clean combo of the reliable Seiko caliber 7S26 automatic movement on a canvas strap keeps your wrist light and airy while staying stylish and always on time. Phenomenal bang for your buck at $80 through Jomashop.
For Drinking: [HydroFlask 40 oz in Cobalt â $50](. Fifty bucks for a water bottle was a tough sell on me, but when youâre trying to keep water cold during a long day out, itâs worth the cost of admission. Having a bottle that actually keeps your water cold offers a refreshing jolt when you do take a sip to whet your whistle on the road. 40 ounces is plenty even for longer rides. You don’t want to be stopping every 2 hours to water the plants.
The Belt: [Amazon Essentials Stretch Woven Belt in Black – $18](. Flexible and easily adjustable. I prefer woven belts for road trips because they’re much lighter than their leather counterparts. And when sitting in a car all day, the potential monotony of endless driving can be exhausting. Anything you can do to feel brighter and lighter is advised.
The Shoes: [Adidas Continental 80 in White and Black/Gold Stripe – $50](. A steal for this well-built leather sneaker. Just enough cushion for the (pedal) pushin’ without feeling overly soft. As with the sunglasses, the bright white sneakers bring a dash of summer flair to your overall look. Full review available [here.](
The Socks:Â [Adidas Superlite No-Show Sock in White – 6 pairs for $20](. For a sneaker like this, with shorts, the best sock is a moderately cushioned no-show sock. Breathability is key for long jaunts in the car. While merino wool is preferred to keep your feet cool, this multi-pack of polyester athletic socks will serve you well at a great price.
The Snack: [think! High Protein Bar – 5ct for $5.99](. Road trip snacks should fill two roles: easy to eat, and satisfying. The optimal snack prevents you from making a pit-stop just for food, while also having minimal risk of making a mess. These protein bars from Think are delicious, have 0g sugar (beware if you’re sensitive to “sugar alcohols”), and are filling. Choose from creamy or crunchy peanut butter, lemon delight, brownie fudge, chocolate mint and more.
For Listening:Â [Motley Fool Money Podcast](. This can be a bit nerdy, but I’ve been loving the Motley Fool Money podcast during these “unprecedented times.” Through the market bottom in March and the insanity and hyper-valuation of the rise back up since then, this podcast has done a great job of helping people wade through a lot of confusing and contradictory info in a fun and digestible way. If you’re wise, you can put a lot of the teachings and tips to task and make some coin, too.
The Luggage:Â [Samsonite Lift 2 21â³ Spinner â $100](. With spinner-wheels that allow movement in any direction, and a lightweight design using a thick ripstop style fabric, this is a perfect carry-on bag for the airport, or multi-day road trip. (Or, for blocking a license plate in a style scenario header image.) Internal straps and pockets keep everything locked down, while external pockets on the front provide quick access to items you need on the go. This bag has enough space â if you know how to pack accordingly- for a 5 day trip. Of course, your results may vary. Admittedly, not the most dappered of choices. For something with a bit more polish, but less space, check out [this weekender from Peak Design]( via Huckberry.

[Dearborn Denim & Apparel Leather Belt – $40.50]( ($45)
About the Author: Adam Terry is a thirtysomething salesman in the HVAC/Plumbing industry. He enjoys bourbon, boots, sneakers, raw denim, and working on his dad bod father figure.
NOTE: This belt was originally supposed to be reviewed [along with their jeans and t-shirt](. But… #2020 happened, and the belt got held up/disappeared into the void/they thought they ran out of stock. Thought it was a goner, so, we ran the jeans and tee review. Yet miracle of miracles, it showed! So, here’s a solo review of just the belt.
Leather belts are a dime a dozen, ranging from those â100% leatherâ $10 belts at Target [to Joeâs $40 favorite from Gap](. Iâm a firm believer in that every man, woman, and child needs a simple, but solid brown leather belt. It doesnât have to be anything fancy; it just needs to do its job and do it well for many years. Whereâs the line of diminishing returns at? What separates one brown leather belt from another similar one? Well, hopefully by comparing [this Dearborn Denim belt]( ($45) against [a Tanner Goods belt]( ($105), weâll have a good look at exactly where your money is going.

Ordering/Delivery/Returns:
Originally ordered back in mid-July, this once-in-a-century pandemic affected Dearbornâs supply chains and they were out of stock and ran out of materials to make more. Miraculously, three days afterwards they messaged saying they recovered some belts from their brick and mortar stores and would be shipping it out pronto. It was shipped via USPS Priority and arrived just two days later. Hooray!
FYI: Dearborn Denim has a simple 30-day return policy for unworn, unwashed merchandise. Exchanges are free, but returns will set you back $7 USD to pay for the return shipping and restocking.
Score: 5/5 Stars â Easy ordering and fast shipping. No knocks for a small delay during a pandemic.
Packaging:
The belt shipped coiled up in a 4âx4âx4â brown cardboard box. No frills, but youâre not paying for any.
Score: 5/5 Stars â I donât need accessories or fancy packaging with a belt at this price point.
[Dearborn Denim stamped logo](
Pointed end stamped with Dearborn’s logo: [the Chicago star](
First Impressions:
Fresh out of the box, the SMELL of the leather and oils is intoxicating! Horweenâs leathers have a unique smell thatâs right up there for me with the scents of bourbon, loose tobacco, and tea leaves. If you enjoy walking into a fine leather goods shop, youâll definitely appreciate this belt.
Speaking of the leather, Dearborn says they use Horweenâs bull hide and I believe them. Measuring just over a quarter-inch thick, this is one of the thickest leather belts Iâve ever held in my hands. Iâm fairly certain this is a slab of Horweenâs infamous Chromexcel which has a wonderful reputation for aging gracefully. This particular belt has some sections of very, very light loose grain which may develop some slight wrinkles across the width of the belt. For reference, my Tanner Goods belt is made from English bridle leather and has some spots of this loose grain structure too, but is a bit thinner overall.
[Tanner Goods belt and Dearborn Denim belt](
Edge finishing comparison. Dearborn is lightly burnished. Pretty raw.
Tanner Goods is hand dyed, burnished and waxed smooth. It also costs 2x as much.
The roller buckle is made from antiqued solid brass and feels substantial. Itâs secured to the slab of leather by two matching antiqued brass rivets. The buckle is not removable. Most leather belts have a leather keeper loop to tie up the excess length, but Dearborn opted for a matching antiqued brass loop. You might think this is a cheaper option or cost cutting, and you might be right, but personally I like it. It feels like itâs a bit easier to slip the beltâs stamped tail into the keeper. Especially when youâre rushing to put your pants on when you see your toddler walking towards the doggo with a Sharpie! By comparison, my Tanner Goods belt has a copper roller buckle, copper rivets, and a normal leather keeper loop.
One noticeable difference between the two belts is the finishing around the edges. The Dearborn belt seems like it was lightly burnished â smoothed edges but you can tell theyâre still ârawâ and not polished. Thereâs nothing wrong with this, but my Tanner Goods belt has edges that are hand dyed, burnished, and waxed smooth. The difference here is like the difference between taking your car through one of those automated car washes versus having someone detail it by hand. You can tell Tanner Goods pays a bit more attention to the details (as they should if theyâre going to charge $105!).
Score: 3/5 Stars â Not bad! Leather is above average, keeper loop is OK, but finishing is just average.
[Dearborn Denim belt hardware](
Solid antiqued brass buckle, rivets, and keeper.
Fit/Sizing:
So, I ordered my usual belt size of 36 using the tried and true method of pants size + 2. Unfortunately, this particular belt is too long; Iâm on the very last hole and this leather from Horween is known to stretch a bit over time. I would suggest going with your normal pants size and expect a bit of stretch.
By comparison, my W.H. Earl and Tanner Goods belts in size 36 fit correctly with the buckle tongue slotting into the middle of the five holes.
Score: 4/5 Stars â Belt is cut too long; suggest going with your pant waist size.
[Tanner Goods belt]
Belt seems to run long. Try ordering your normal pants size? Not pants size +2.
Final Thoughts:
For under $50, I donât think there are many belts that can compete with this one from Dearborn Denim. The Horween-sourced leather is beefy, the hardware is serviceable, and itâs made in the USA. This knocks Joeâs favorite from Gap to the curb ([live look at Joe right now]() and could easily replace the ones I have from Gustin, W.H. Earl, or Tanner Goods. I definitely recommend checking this one out if youâre in the market for a simple, sturdy brown belt and you appreciate American-made accessories.
Avg. Score: 4.25/5 Stars â Pretty dang good for the price! Highly recommended.
Shout out: Big thanks to reader Brian C. for the tip on Dearborn!
