[Dappered | Banana Republic 50% off NO BR Merch Exclusions Friends & Family]() --------------------------------------------------------------- - [Banana Republic 50% off NO BR Merch Exclusions Friends & Family](#1) - [Best of Threads: Suede Chelseas, Socks for Loafers, and Household Goods](#2) - [Style Scenario: Screw it. It’s too damn hot.](#3) [Banana Republic 50% off NO BR Merch Exclusions Friends & Family](r/Dappered/~3/GvtG7iTYfdg/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 15 Aug 2019 02:30 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( [Banana Republic 50% off Full price: w/ BRFAMILY](//bananarepublic.gap.com/?tid=braff4025845&ap=2&siteID=brafcid11555231&cjevent=17f21b20bdc411e9837502e40a1c0e0e) UPDATE: Looks like this time around it’s not quite as exclusive as in the past? Just use the BRFAMILY code. No need to text or scrounge up a user specific offer this time. UPDATE II: Well they’ve certainly complicated this, haven’t they. SOME items you DO need a user specific code for. Like some of the picks below (some of the boots, sunglasses, etc.) If you DON’T have a user specific code in your inbox? Try texting FAMILY to 89532 to get one. But you’ll almost certainly be opt’d into their promotional texts. Check your inbox. Many (most?) frequent BR customers should get a personalized code for the big half off BR Friends and Family deal that just launched. If not? Then, if you so choose, get to texting FAMILY to 89532, and you should get one sent back to you. Do know that you’re certainly gonna be opted into their promo texts by doing so though. It’s as good as it gets for BR. While it does seem like they removed some of the bigger/more expensive fall stuff from the site (most coats & jackets, drat…) there’s still a BUNCH of new arrivals, just in time for fall, getting this fat discount. Cardmembers can use BRCARD at checkout for an extra 10% off. Everyone can use BRSHIP for free 3-5 day shipping on $100+. Off we go with the picks: [Arley Gray Suede](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493150002&cid=1080085&pcid=1032801&grid=pds_38_70_1) or [Brown Leather Boots – $89](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493143002&cid=1080085&pcid=1032801&grid=pds_37_70_1) ($178) [Arley Gray Suede or Brown Leather Boots](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493143002&cid=1080085&pcid=1032801&grid=pds_37_70_1) Oooh. Hello. Fall is on the way after all. And even our shoe expert thought their first run of [suede Arley boots were pretty good for the price](. Now in a cool gray suede (!!) and a rich looking brown leather. [Budget Higgins Mills](. That’s what those are. [Rapid Movement Jeans – $59 – $64.50](3D0%26style%3D1073879/ ($118 – $129) [Banana Republic Rapid Movement Denim on Dappered.com](3D0%26style%3D1073879/ Obligatory mention because they’re often excluded. [Full review can be found here](. Plenty of fits and washes to pick from. [Pair shown above is the athletic tapered in the “rinse” shade](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=176401002&cid=1073879&pcid=5389&grid=pds_7_22_1). Size shown above is a 34×30 on 5’10″/200lbs. Enormous fan of these. [Vegan Suede Bomber Jacket – $89.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=491360012&cid=1087393&pcid=13846&grid=pds_76_502_2) ($179) [Vegan Suede Bomber Jacket](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=491360012&cid=1087393&pcid=13846&grid=pds_76_502_2) BR’s vegan suede jackets were a surprise hit last year. Vegan suede has apparently come a lonnnnnng way. And the looks of this jacket? Spot on. Would absolutely wear when it cools off a bit. [Heathered Traveler Pant in Slim](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=360778032&pcid=999) or [Athletic Tapered – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=360768042&pcid=999) ($98.50) [BR Heathered Traveler Pant](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=360778032&pcid=999) THEY MADE THEN IN BOTH SLIM AND [ATHLETIC TAPERED](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=360768042&pcid=999). (Cries softly into his scrambled eggs.) Oh man. This pleases me greatly. Fabric is a blend of 81% cotton, 18% polyester, and 1% elastane. [Norman Suede Chukka Boot – $89](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493141002&cid=1106073&pcid=13846&grid=pds_151_502_2) ($178) [Norman Suede Chukka Boot](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493141002&cid=1106073&pcid=13846&grid=pds_151_502_2) All kinds or right. A little sleeker and a little more structure than a desert boot. Plus, the lack of a crepe sole makes them easier to dress up a touch. Super versatile. Big fan of the shade of suede. Could be massive winners at this price. [Slim Dark Rinse Japanese Traveler Jean – $59.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5389&vid=1&pid=130452002) ($119) [B.R. Slim Dark Rinse Japanese Traveler Jean on Dappered.com](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5389&vid=1&pid=130452002) Another denim legend from Banana Republic. After over a THOUSAND reviews on the BR site, these things still have a 4.6 out of 5 star rating. [Full review here](. What’s the difference between these and the Rapid Movement? The RM looks a little more jean like. I think. These are more high performance. They look and feel great though. Just slim fits. No athletic tapered (which the Rapid Movement does have). [Core Temp Slim Fit Chinos – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1105419&pcid=35878&vid=1&pid=320597042&tid=braff4025845&ap=2&siteID=brafcid11555231&cjevent=66156780b2de11e9808e03220a1c0e0d) ($98) [BR Core Temp Chinos](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1105419&pcid=35878&vid=1&pid=320597042&tid=braff4025845&ap=2&siteID=brafcid11555231&cjevent=66156780b2de11e9808e03220a1c0e0d) Lightweight, breathable, and absurdly comfortable. I wear them year round, but I also run a little warm. Almost always excluded. [Full review here](. Lots of colors to pick from. Slim fit. [Xavier Sunglasses – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=950319072&cid=1138653&pcid=1125710&grid=pds_64_83_1) ($98) [Xavier Sunglasses](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=950319072&cid=1138653&pcid=1125710&grid=pds_64_83_1) BR’s take on the classic clubmaster. Not sure how aggressive the tortoise shell pattern is? If it’s that bright in person? Super well reviewed though. [Slim Stripe Blazer – $99](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=417395002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643) ($198) [Banana Republic Slim Stripe Blazer](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=417395002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643) 84% cotton, 14% modal, 2% spandex. Just half lined in the back. Would look great with lighter weight chinos with the heat still around, and just fine with dark wash denim when it finally cools off. [Legacy Jeans in Slim Fit – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5389&mlink=5001,17559227,HP_Spotlight_1_M_Default_ShopNow&clink=17559227) ($98) [Legacy Jeans in Slim Fit](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5389&mlink=5001,17559227,HP_Spotlight_1_M_Default_ShopNow&clink=17559227) These are new. Brand new. I have no idea what makes them different. Fabric is a blend of 78% cotton, 18% TENCEL (lyocell), 3% elasterrell, 1% elastane. [Early returns seem to indicate true slim fit?]( Maybe even slimmer than expected? UPDATE: Here’s what reader Jim K. (thanks Jim!) has to say about this new “legacy” denim: They are 14oz denim (so pretty hefty for BR), the most jean like feel of any of BR’s style however they stretch like nobody’s business and feel absurdly soft on your skin. IMO they are a “high tapered” style that is super popular right now in the raw denim world, I bought the 32×30 and here is the rise/thigh/hem opening measurements for my pair: front rise 11″, thigh 12″ (brand new, will stretch out a bit), hem opening 7″. Compared to a pair of 32×30 traveler pants (not jeans) where the hem is 7.5″. Also feels narrower in the knee too. BR alludes to this in the description as well. Bonus: dark indigo wash is so dark it’s almost black. Super inky. [Hadley Italian Leather Brogue Oxford – $79](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6854&pcid=5490&vid=1&pid=796502002) ($158) [Hadley Italian Leather Brogue Oxford](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6854&pcid=5490&vid=1&pid=796502002) Affordable [brogue bluchers.]( Plus they’ve got a new burgundy shade (top) too. Super versatile. Of course, gonna be hard not to suggest jeans and a sportcoat [for a smart social-studies teacher look when it cools off](. They’d also look great with a cool gray linen suit. [Slim Traveler Pant – $49.25](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1099939&pcid=13846&vid=1&pid=488420082) ($98.50) [BR Slim Traveler Pant ](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1099939&pcid=13846&vid=1&pid=488420082) Favorite pants that are usually spendy because they’re usually excluded. 4.8/5 stars after 1500 reviews. They’re a jean style chino made with some sort of high-recovery Italian stretch cotton. So, comfort of your favorite pair of jeans, only in chino like colors & finish. Lots of colors to pick from. Also offered in [Athletic Tapered](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=360745022&searchText=traveler+pant) and [Skinny](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=266636022&searchText=traveler+pant). [Full review here](. And they’re not white! Really digging [the charcoal gray leather/suede combination with the white soles](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493139002&rrec=true&mlink=5050,12413545,brproduct1_rr_1&clink=12413545). Want. [NEW Waxed Canvas Collection – $24.75 – $79.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=Waxed%20Canvas) ($49.50 – $159) [Banana Republic Waxed Canvas Collection](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=Waxed%20Canvas) Remember [J. Crew’s old Abingdon stuff](? Right. I don’t know why they stopped making most of that stuff either. But it looks like BR is picking up where J. Crew dropped that waxed canvas ball. Prices start at under $25 for that basic pouch, and run up to just under $80 for the briefcase and backpack. [Colin Sunglasses – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=950320142&rrec=true&mlink=5050,12413545,brproduct2_rr_4&clink=12413545) ($98) [Colin Sunglasses](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=950320142&rrec=true&mlink=5050,12413545,brproduct2_rr_4&clink=12413545) Easy, versatile, well reviewed basic shades from Banana Republic. The brown tortoise looks like it could add some color without going over the top. One T. Ford designs these and they’d run $300. [Slim Birdseye Blazer in Charcoal Gray – $124.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=488698002&cid=1108161&pcid=13846&grid=pds_122_591_2) ($249) //bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=488698002&cid=1108161&pcid=13846&grid=pds_122_591_2 Description says this is cotton moleskin? Really? Wondering if that’s true. Could be a brushed cotton that’s not quite as dense. Butterfly lined in the back. [Fly-Weight Traveler Pant – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424407) ($98) [Fly-Weight Traveler Pant on Dappered.com](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424407) Not as cooling as the core temp, but still worth a mention because of the huge success of its regular weight brother. [Full review here](. [Italian Merino Wool V-Necks](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473206022&cid=1108020&pcid=28660&grid=pds_128_385_1) & [Crew Necks – $39.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473204122&cid=1119446&pcid=28660&grid=pds_8_385_1) ($79.50) [BR Italian Merino Wood Sweaters](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473206022&cid=1108020&pcid=28660&grid=pds_128_385_1) The Merino Wool that BR uses for their basic sweaters is not just nice, it’s quite nice. Not as paper-thin as UNIQLO’s stuff (although some people really like ultra-light sweaters), but still not bulky like a traditional lambswool either. [Slim Utility Blazer – $79.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=427521012&cid=1108161&pcid=13846) ($159) [Slim Utility Blazer](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=427521012&cid=1108161&pcid=13846) 96% cotton and 4% spandex. Not a traditionally styled sportcoat, but more of that chore-jacket look that’s supposed to not be quite as sharp and crisp looking. To be worn with henleys and t-shirts and untucked OCBDs and chambray shirts. [Nicklas Sneaker – $64](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=166850) ($128) [Banana Republic Nicklas Sneaker](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=166850) The BR OG. Obligatory mention. A new classic from BR. White leather uppers? Check. Gum sole? Check. Blue accents? Check. [Full review here](. [Italian Merino Sweater Polo – $44.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=474805012&cid=1106064&pcid=13846&grid=pds_275_502_1) ($89.50) [Italian Merino Sweater Polo](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=474805012&cid=1106064&pcid=13846&grid=pds_275_502_1) Grown up casual. I very much look forward to the season in which these can be worn. 100% extra fine Italian Merino. [Camo Suede Card Case – $19.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=492826002&cid=1106073&pcid=13846&grid=pds_287_655_2) ($39.50) [Banana Republic Camo Suede Card Case](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=492826002&cid=1106073&pcid=13846&grid=pds_287_655_2) Mentioned in yesterday’s Best Bets. Suede. Simple. For the minimalists, or, could make a really nice (and inexpensive) stand alone business card case? [Performance Stretch Wool Dress Pant in Slim](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=167317002&searchText=Performance+Stretch+Wool+Dress+Pant) or [Athletic Tapered – $59](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=167337002&searchText=Performance+Stretch+Wool+Dress+Pant) ($118) [BR Performance Stretch Wool Dress Pant](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=167317002&searchText=Performance+Stretch+Wool+Dress+Pant) BR’s stand alone wool dress pant. 99% wool and 1% elastane. Two fits to pick from. Still can’t get over those product images, and how if they ripped open the inseam and sewed both legs together on those pants shown, it STILL wouldn’t fit one of my legs. Who are these for, people who walk on stilts? [Core Temp BLAZER – $124.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=469490022&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) ($249) [BR Core Temp Blazer](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=469490022&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) Four colors to pick from. Just quarter lined. Pick a matching pant [and you might have a core temp suit for under $175.]( (Some of the colors might not be an exact match though? Be careful here, and be prepared to inspect upon arrival and send back if they’re not a match. BIG thanks to Adam B. who investigated and found that “stone” and the new “bahama sand” are NOT the same colors? [I guess I just got lucky before they made the switch?]() Not bad at all. For reference, a 42R fit my 5’10″/200lbs frame just fine off the rack. [Norman Leather Chukka Boot – $89](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493159002&cid=1080085&pcid=1032801&grid=pds_34_60_1) ($178) [Norman Leather Chukka Boot](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=493159002&cid=1080085&pcid=1032801&grid=pds_34_60_1) More chukkas. Still the Norman silhouette here, but in different leathers. That dark taupe appears to be nubuck? Fingers crossed that it is. That’d be quite nice. [Core Temp 5-Pocket Slim Fit Pants – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=479524012&cid=1130278&pcid=13846&grid=pds_21_38_1) ($98) [Core Temp 5-Pocket Slim Fit Pants](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=479524012&cid=1130278&pcid=13846&grid=pds_21_38_1) Core temp in a 5-pocket jean-like style? Yes please and thank you. Still just the Aiden slim fits though. [D-Ring Suede Belts – $13.99 – $24.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=461881012&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) ($49.50) [BR D-Ring Suede Belt](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=461881012&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) Suede accessories often get excluded, but not this time. Perfect for this warm weather, and can also be worked into cooler weather outfits for a bit of color and texture. [Regular or SLIM Fit Luxe Touch – $22.25 – $24.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=Luxury-Touch+Polo) ($44.50 – $49.50) [BR Luxe Touch Polo on Dappered.com](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=Luxury-Touch+Polo) Lots of these are already on sale, which is good! But don’t forget that this deal only works on items that are regular price. Now, these luxe touch polos are exceptional with one big exception. Many have reported shrinkage problems with these. Especially when it comes to the length. So much so that some suggest ordering a “tall” size even if you’re not. I don’t have this issue, and I can’t tell you why. I wash on warm or cold and dry on medium or cool. Do they shrink up a little in the wash? Maybe. But not to the extremes that I’ve heard. That said, if you struggle sometimes in the laundry department, you might want to heed those warnings. Size shown above is a Large Slim. [Core Temp 9″ Slim Short – $34.75](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=266619102&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) ($69.50) [BR Core Temp 9" Slim Short](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=266619102&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) Perfect for the guy who wants the breathability and stretch of a tech short, but hates the snow-pant like “swish swish” sound that fully synthetic shorts (and pants) seem to make when you walk. 9″ length is neither too long nor is it shorty-shorts-short. Nine colors to pick from. Still plenty of time left to wear these things. [Rapid Movement Shirt Jacket – $59.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=491173002&cid=1051345&pcid=1016720&grid=pds_11_72_1) ($119) [Rapid Movement Shirt Jacket](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=491173002&cid=1051345&pcid=1016720&grid=pds_11_72_1) This is gonna sound dumb, but… well you’re here so you’re probably already used to this nonsense. So here goes: I think shirt jackets sometimes are neither shirty enough, nor jackety enough. This one, with the zipper up front, SHOULD be jackety enough. I think. I believe. Fabric is 90% cotton, 8% polyester, 2% spandex. [Italian Leather Cap-Toe Oxford – $79](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=255911002&cid=1032803&pcid=1032801) ($158) [Banana Republic Italian Leather Cap-Toe Oxford](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=255911002&cid=1032803&pcid=1032801) Conservative shape. Simple cap toe. Ortholite insole is pretty comfy out of the box. Fit seems true. Maybe a half size small if you don’t wear thin dress socks with them. Are they gonna last you your whole life? Nah. Will they look good with a navy suit for an interview? You bet. [Rapid Movement Chinos – $49](3D1086241%26pageId%3D0%26userSearchText%3Drapid%2Bmovement%2Bchino/ ($98) multiple colors/fits [B.R. Rapid Movement Chinos](3D1086241%26pageId%3D0%26userSearchText%3Drapid%2Bmovement%2Bchino/ A regular weight chino. Not as airy as the core temp. They do definitely have more stretch than an average stretch chino. Maybe not as stretchy as the rapid movement denim, but, more flexible. 90% cotton, 8% poly, 2% spandex. Clean hook and bar closure front. Tons of colors and fits. Size shown above is a 33×30 in the Emerson straight fit. Speaking of fits, they have plenty. Slim, athletic tapered, straight, and more. [Italian Merino Cardigan Sweater – $49.25](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473203012&cid=1108020&pcid=28660&grid=pds_132_385_1) ($98.50) [Italian Merino Cardigan Sweater](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=473203012&cid=1108020&pcid=28660&grid=pds_132_385_1) I’m a huge proponent of cardigans. Yes, they can look dorky on some. But not on everyone. Helps to be a little ugly ([hi!](). Not so clean cut. And if you run warm, it’s a heck of a lot easier taking one of these off (and putting it back on) throughout the day then pulling a crewneck or a v-neck over your head. I wear mine with everything from henleys to t-shirts to OCBDs. [Slim Italian Cotton Blazer – $124.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=488697002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643&grid=pds_0_90_1) ($249) [Slim Italian Cotton Blazer](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=488697002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643&grid=pds_0_90_1) Brushed Italian cotton so it should be super soft. Even though it’s styled here with lighter pants, dark jeans or chinos would give off some serious autumnal campus vibes. Like, as the person teaching the class. Most students just wear pajama pants. This looks a little more like Indiana Jones at his day-job. [Stretch Woven Belt – $27.25](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=423383042&searchText=green) ($54.50) [BR Stretch Woven Belt](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=423383042&searchText=green) More than a few options here. Stretch but with a leather & standard buckle front. [Slim Linen-Cotton Blazer – $124.50](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=469497002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643&grid=pds_1_96_1) ($249) [BR Slim Linen-Cotton Blazer](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=469497002&cid=1113632&pcid=32643&grid=pds_1_96_1) A 68% linen, 32% cotton blend and is just half lined in the back. Cool shade of blue with a houndstooth pattern. Could go decently well with jeans during early autumn, but, seems to be more of a summery thing. [Thane Leather Trainer Sneaker – $74](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424337002&cid=1125990&pcid=13846) ($148) [Banana Republic Thane Leather Trainer Sneaker](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424337002&cid=1125990&pcid=13846) Retro and then some. A little too retro for those of us that like to stick to classic court style kicks, but plenty will find nice places for these in their wardrobe. [Core Temp Ahtletic Tapered DRAWSTRING Pant – $49](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=457724012&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) ($98) [BR Core Temp Ahtletic Tapered DRAWSTRING Pant](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=457724012&cid=1132143&pcid=13846) Elastic waistband here. That’s a no go for many of us, but, not all. And team leg day will appreciate that they’re an athletic tapered fit. Three colors to pick from. The 50% off BR merch Friends and Family no exclusions deal seems to expire on Monday 8/19. ff/Dappered?a=GvtG7iTYfdg:_vgCz-ZJ6co:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=GvtG7iTYfdg:_vgCz-ZJ6co:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=GvtG7iTYfdg:_vgCz-ZJ6co:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Best of Threads: Suede Chelseas, Socks for Loafers, and Household Goods](r/Dappered/~3/dELrmAmXdxI/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 14 Aug 2019 02:00 PM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( [What’s Dappered Threads?]( It’s our forum. Launched in 2011, Threads is a not too big, not too small, just-right-sized forum that doesn’t put up with snobbery. All thanks to the users and hardworking mods. Once a month, one of the users/mods from Threads provides us with a highlight package of the last few weeks. [Recommendations on Suede Chelsea Boots?]( [Recommendations on suede chelsea boots | Dappered.com]( ChrisCassh is in the market for some suede chelseas this year, and came to Threads asking for suggestions under $250. [SethVaughn]( started things off by suggesting Chris reference the [numerous articles on Dappered]( with suggestions for suede chelseas. Thanks for the love Seth, even though you don’t love chelseas. [Smitty]( recommended Thursday Boot Co., while [JBarwick]( proclaimed his love of the Skoak’s he picked up (even providing the photo above, [which is kind of reminiscent of this](). [mebejoseph]( threw out suggestions from Jack Erwin and Allen Edmonds, and Banks recommended the Loake Mitchum ([review here](). Fall’s a comin’ fellas’. [What no-show socks with loafers do you wear?]( [No show socks for loafers]( Although thoughts of fall are sneaking in, there’s still plenty of warm temps to be had, which often warrants a sock-free look. But sock free isn’t comfortable with all shoes, so DocDave asked the Threads forum what their favorite no-show socks are to wear with loafers. [Smitty]( recommended [Bombas]( while [Nandyn]( has a budget option as his go to ([pictured above](). [Nice_Marmot]( recommended SmartWools, which have had [plenty of play]( on this site. [Loafer28]( likes Sperry or Falke, but admits they’re on the spendier side. [Let’s talk about furniture and household goods]( [The Dappered Space]( One not need only rely on [The Dappered Space]( for suggestions on styling your personal abode. rd27 decided to check in with the Threads universe and see what other guys have brought into their home-space that makes their existence better. [APinNC]( has a Lay-Z-Boy recliner that belonged to his late father and is now his favorite piece of furniture in his home. [mebejoseph]( recently changed out some of his electrical outlets to versions that also have USB ports. [minty007]( is all about his well stocked workbench, and his wine room. Further in the thread, the conversation took an [interesting turn]( into the realm of tech and whether or not our devices listen to us to gather marketing data. [Deals Around the Net: Open Thread]( [Deals Around the Net: Open Thread | threads.dappered.com]( Dappered is dedicated to helping guys that want to dress a little better do it at an affordable price. Believe it or not, Dappered is a fairly small outfit, with one main editor (hi Joe!) and a handful of contributors. So Dappered, while well intended, might (maybe) miss a sale every once in a while. Plus, not all retailers fit into the style Dappered is known for, but it doesn’t mean you guys don’t have broader style needs. If that’s the case, this thread is perfect for you. It’s a gathering of Dappered readers posting information on sales that Dappered isn’t covering on the main site, and sharing their purchases. ([photo credit]() Looking for some advice, direction, or just to connect with some cool guys? Perhaps you too are in the market for a new pair of suede chelseas. If so, then [Head on over to Threads]( and take a spin around. ff/Dappered?a=dELrmAmXdxI:q0IDUOlJRlw:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=dELrmAmXdxI:q0IDUOlJRlw:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=dELrmAmXdxI:q0IDUOlJRlw:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Style Scenario: Screw it. It’s too damn hot.](r/Dappered/~3/RJjZ81OnbD8/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 14 Aug 2019 08:00 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. When it’s too damn hot and [you just want to take everything off]( it’s tough to find relief from the suffocating heat. With August comes scorching heat. The type of heat that makes your face melt. Some days are just too damn hot to give a damn, yet minimal effort can have you looking noticeably better than a melted candle. Here’s one way to do just that, while staying as comfortable as possible. [Style Scenario: Screw it. It’s too damn hot. | Dappered.com] The Tech Tee: [GapFit Breathe Tee in Sunset – $9 FINAL](//www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=420676) w/ FRIEND & SCORE ($39.95). A little color, a few stripes. Final Sale, so be careful. No cotton here. All moisture wicking fabric, with a nice athletic-inspired shoulder stripe. All at a price about half your standard performance tech-tee. If you want something a little more casual workplace or golf-course appropriate, try [the Peak Velocity athletic fit polo]( Joe [mentioned the other day](. Codes FRIEND (40% off) and SCORE (additional 10% off) both expire today, 8/14. The Shorts: [Hill City 8″ X-Purpose Shorts in Charcoal Heather – $58](//hillcity.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=372368). From Gap/BR/Old Navy’s new athletic-wear line Hill City, these are meant to be transitional shorts that can handle whatever the day brings- hence the “X Purpose” moniker. Lightweight, stretchy, and moisture wicking, these aren’t as polished as, say, a J.Crew or Bonobos tech short. But they’re lighter-weight and move with you. I’m not an “Athleisure” advocate, but when we’re in the dog-days of summer and it is just too damn hot, compromises must be made. The Watch: [Seiko Prospex Automatic Diver – $330](. In oppressive heat, I advocate for going as lean as possible. That usually means heavy dive watches need not apply. So, um… here’s a dive watch. Look, when the heat turns up, the water may beckon you, and I feel more peace of mind when I can keep my watch on when I jump in the pool. And a nicer dive watch will help ensure the pool [isn’t at capacity, for you.]( For something a bit lighter on the pockets, check out the oft-mentioned [Orient Kamasu for $240](, or the [Orient Ray 2 for $128](. The Sunglasses: [Warby Parker Barkley in Matte Black Eclipse– $95](. All Black everything, like my soul when it gets too hot to function. I just picked up a pair of these for myself, and they offer great coverage and have a nice lightweight acetate frame. Polarized to keep the glare out, and dark black lenses to shield you from the sun. The Belt: [Gelante Braided Belt in Gray – $8.50](. Including the belt here because some guys just don’t want to wear an elastic waist outside of the gym. If you choose to go with shorts that have belt loops, go braided on the belt. No leather. Lightweight braided or webbed textile is the way to go in the heat. No experience with this brand, but ships and sold by Amazon for a dirt-cheap price. The Underwear: [Under Armour Boxerjock 2 for $25](. Other options [get more spin on this site](, but I’ve been wearing the UA Boxerjock for years now and haven’t felt a need to switch. 2 for $25 is a tough price to beat. The Shoes: [Adidas Sabalo Slip-On – $65](. Look for something very lightweight and breathable. Honestly, you may want to try some sort of sandals in lieu of actual shoes. [Brace yourselves, I wear these]( when the occasion calls for open toes. But, if that’s not your cup of tea, give these a shot. The Sweat & Stink Management Tools: [Gold Bond Body Powder]( + [Tom’s of Maine Deodorant](. Or, whatever body powder you prefer (it’s tough to beat one of the originals though). For the deodorant, Tom’s is aluminum free and naturally derived. It also smells great and emphasizes sustainability. I’ve long been a fan of their products, and love this deodorant. For some reason, they only make a [women’s antiperspirant](sr_1_15?keywords=all+natural+antiperspirant+for+men&qid=1565625880&s=gateway&sr=8-15). But, I’ve used it and it’s great as well. The Poolside/Beach read: [All The Light We Cannot See – Price varies by format](. The type of book you open, and can’t put down. A thoroughly engrossing historical fiction piece set in France and Germany during World War 2 focused on two children with very different, yet eventually converging experiences. A great poolside or beach read. About the Author: Jason P. is a Dappered devotee, having curated the majority of his wardrobe through the site.
