[Dappered | Style Scenario: Warm Weather Smart Casual]() --------------------------------------------------------------- - [Style Scenario: Warm Weather Smart Casual](#1) - [Style Scenario: Summer Road Trip](#2) - [Win It: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic](#3) [Style Scenario: Warm Weather Smart Casual](r/Dappered/~3/61OtMZVLIkE/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 25 Jun 2019 03:00 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. Hey look it’s summer! So while dark denim is getting shelved for a while, that doesn’t mean we still can’t warm-weather-ize an almost kinda sorta business mullet look. Instead of jeans we’ve gone with tech chinos here. Ultra lightweight and breathable. And instead of a standard button up dress shirt? We’ve gone untucked and sans long sleeves thanks to a polo. Thanks to everyone [on Instagram]( who asked for details on the outfit. You complete me.* [Style Scenario: Warm Weather Smart Casual] The Sportcoat: [Suitsupply Italian Hopsack Wool – $399]( Lightweight, airy, hopsack Italian wool and barely lined so it’ll handle the summer heat with ease. In a cool blue that’ll look great in the fall with that dark denim that is currently on the shelf. The Polo: [Banana Republic Slim Luxury-Touch Printed Polo – $18.99](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424807002&cid=1125294&pcid=1014757) ($49.50). Been on mega sale a lot lately, so, sizes are starting to go quick. I personally don’t like the “air tie” look with button up shirts, but buttoning a polo all the way up seems to look pretty sharp. Plus, it keeps the collar from drifting over your lapels. [Also available in a regular fit](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=424864002&pcid=999). The Pants: [J. Crew Tech Pants in 770 Straight Fit – $79.50]( One of the few items that J. Crew EXCLUDES from promos and codes almost universally. Which stinks. But they’re quite good. Yes, they make the “Swish Swish” sound, but they breathe so well, they’re so lightweight, and they move so well, that when its 110? They’re worth it. The Watch: [Seiko Samurai Dive Watch – $320](. Or, whatever your favorite diver happens to be. Cheap, [mid-price, expensive](, whatever. They’re just so darn versatile. And unlike leather bands, stainless won’t soak up that summer sweat. The Socks:[Smartwool Burgee Merino Wool Blend Socks in Light Gray – $15.97]( ($20.95). Lightweight merino is so far superior to cotton in every single way. These’ll keep your feet cooler and dryer in the heat. Promise. Picked up my pair(s) [during the big Nordy Half-yearly further markdowns extravaganza](, but they’re still on sale at Dick’s, of all places. The Shoes: [Frye Gates Chelsea Boot – $89.98]( ($258). Big fan of the Banana Republic Tully Chelsea Sneaker (which is what I’m wearing in the very top image). But they don’t make those anymore. But these are extremely close, and, knowing Frye, they’re probably going to be superior quality and construction. The Belt: [Banana Republic Bombay Suede Belt in Navy – $29](//bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=423813012&pcid=999) ($59.50). Mismatched suede? Why not. *You almost certainly do not complete me. ff/Dappered?a=61OtMZVLIkE:hstxJnI_Nf8:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=61OtMZVLIkE:hstxJnI_Nf8:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=61OtMZVLIkE:hstxJnI_Nf8:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Style Scenario: Summer Road Trip](r/Dappered/~3/u5AXFbjaVqk/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 24 Jun 2019 02:00 PM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Here’s why.]( What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. It’s traveling season! Time to pack up the car and hit the open road (just kidding, there’s endless traffic) for some adventure with your loved ones, or maybe a solo trip. Keeping comfortable in the car is key, especially as the time spent driving continues to grow as airline prices increase and roads clog up. Stay ready with a single outfit to last you 4-8 hours in the car, plus snacks, beverages, and entertainment for the journey ahead. And whatever you do, don’t be in a rush. Be safe to yourself and everyone else on the road. You’ll get there eventually – enjoy the ride. The Shirt: [Acadia Lighthouse Raglan – $40](. You’re in a car all day, so you may as well have some fun and represent where you’re going. As an avid fan of national parks, this option is from the Parks Project, dedicated to the preservation of our nation’s national parks. The Sunglasses: [Warby Parker Abe – $145](. The flat bottoms ([no, I said FLAT]( versus the tear drop shape on a classic aviator, create a strong masculine vibe. Big fan of these, and the polarized lenses will keep your eyes from getting too tired staring at the road ahead. Warby Parker is a huge success, and for many good reasons. For Eating: [Larabar- Assorted Flavors – $5 for 5](. Prices may vary depending upon where you get them, but Target offers them 5 for $5, and that’s about what you’ll find at the local grocer. Made of minimal ingredients and nothing artificial, these pack immense flavor in a little bite. It’s a nice treat when you’re slogging along the highway. My personal favorites are carrot cake, peanut butter cookie, and apple pie. The Watch: [Zodiac Grandrally – $495]( Wait, HOW much? But it’s so… I mean, if you like motorsport inspired watches (and this is a road trip), then it’s hard not to like the Grandrally. [Full review here](. Not down with spending half a grand on a quartz timepiece? Understood. [Try this Armogan for $180](, or, [this Timex for $55](. The Shoes: [Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 – $94](//www.nike.com/t/epic-react-flyknit-2-rabid-panda-mens-running-shoe-0KFRGP/BQ8928-004?vst=nike+epic+react) w/ SAVE25. These are beyond comfortable. Knitted uppers create a light, super breathable but secure wrap around your foot. Nike’s React foam cushioning is like a springy pillow, and feels great in the car and walking around town when you get to your destination. Cushion for the pedal pushin’. The Socks: [Nike Every Day Plus Socks – $22 for 6 pairs](//www.nike.com/t/everyday-plus-training-cushion-no-show-socks-6-pairs-XXM9xm/SX6898-063). These are thin, yet cushioned low cut socks. Perfect to keep your feet comfortable during a day of driving. For Listening: [Spotify Classic Roadtrip Songs – $15/month]( with Premium Subscription. Spotify premium is absolutely worth the $15/month fee. No commercials and downloading playlists (like this one) to listen to offline are essential on the road. This is just a sampling of what you can cobble together to make a personalized, ultimate roadtrip playlist. The Shorts: [J.Crew Tech Short in 7” in Coal Gray – $59.50](. Shorts over pants to stay cool with the sun blasting through the windows. Tech shorts offer nice flexibility, and still have pockets to keep your keys and wallet handy. And the tech fabric really does breathe great and stay comfortable all day. For Drinking: [HydroFlask 32 oz in Lemon – $40](. Stay hydrated! Nothing says insufferable road-tripping partner like someone with a raging headache and bad attitude because they’re dehydrated. But at the same time you don’t want to be pulling over every 45 minutes either. Forty bucks for a water bottle was a tough sell on me, but when you’re trying to keep water cold during a long day out, it’s worth the cost of admission. Having a bottle that actually keeps your water cold offers a refreshing jolt when you do take a sip to whet your whistle. The Luggage: [Samsonite Lift 2 21″ Spinner – $79.99](. With spinner-wheels that allow movement in any direction, and a lightweight design using a thick ripstop style fabric, this is a perfect carry-on bag for the airport, or multi-day road trip. (Or, for blocking a license plate in a style scenario header image.) The bag fits into the overhead bins on most regional jets and will be too big for only the smallest planes, or the most persnickety gate attendants. Internal straps and pockets keep everything locked down, while external pockets on the front provide quick access to items you need on the go. This bag has enough space – if you know how to pack accordingly- for a 5 day trip. Of course, your results may vary. [Here’s why.]( [Undone Basecamp Automatic 40mm – $295]( NOTE: Looks like Huckberry is running low on stock. Green appears to be gone, but the “blackout” option is still available. UNDONE also has them available [through their site direct](. My first reaction when I saw these show up online was: WHAT is THAT? In a good way. Somehow, this watch brand [Undone]( has created a watch with a design that feels like a mash-up between classic field and totally modern styles. And that’s gonna catch a lot of eyeballs (my hand is raised). And while it’s not too expensive, the build quality feels solid, and it undoubtedly looks great, watch enthusiasts might take some issue with a few of the features. Or quirks. Or, quirky features. [In Review: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic | Dappered.com]( The bubble domed crystal is made from Lexan/Plexiglass. And man does it pick up some glare. It’s far from unreadable, but, just know it’s got some glare. And while that Lexan has the benefits of impact resistance 250x stronger than glass, it’s probably not gonna be scratch free over time. But with the explosion in popularity of second hand/vintage watches, many might see that as part of the charm. Watches from decades back used to carry plexiglass crystals all the time. And some guys even search out well worn, well scratched up luxury pieces. While this isn’t a luxury watch, don’t be surprised if you at some point put your own mark(s) on the crystal. [In Review: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic | Dappered.com]( Water resistance isn’t massive. Just 50m. Which is fine, but that isn’t a lot. Yet it has a screw down crown? And that crown is shaped like an octagon. And while my days of banged up digits from either swinging a hammer, or playing the piano for cash, are long gone, my fingers aren’t super sensitive either. I got mitts guys. My hands aren’t fancy. Yet even I experienced a little “damn, sonofagun” factor while operating the screw down crown with that octagon, bolt-head style. [In Review: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic | Dappered.com]( The bezel is a bi-directional, zero click bezel. You read that right. You can spin that sucker either way, but it won’t click. That said, there is enough tension/friction between the bezel and the case to keep the triangle from flying about. But still, some of us feel a bit more secure with a click. Also, there’s a total lack of markings (sterile) around the bezel other than the triangle at 12. It’s a look that’s both retro and modern at the same time. Not super functional, but I suppose if you’re after hyper accuracy, an antiquated technology like automatic/mechanical watches might not be your thing. Use your phone. [Or build your own atomic clock](. [In Review: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic | Dappered.com]( Diameter is a perfect-for-many 40mm. Straps are 20mm. Hardware and strap are legit too. Really great feel. Thick. Not an afterthought. Watch [has an exhibition case back]( so you can see the hacking and hand winding [Seiko NH35A]( automatic movement at work. That’s a solid movement. Date window shows up between 4 and 5 o’clock, which frankly, kinda interrupts the sleek simplicity of the dial. I dig the GMT style, big orange arrow hour hand myself, but I can understand how some people may think it looks out of place. [In Review: The Undone Watches Basecamp Automatic | Dappered.com]( Yes there are cheaper field watches. Yes many of those cheaper field watches, even some of the automatic ones, come with better “specs” (water resistance, crystal, etc). No there just isn’t a lot like this Undone Basecamp out there on the market. So while some guys will take a hard pass, I do think these are fun, have a unique cool factor, and will find a home on more than a few wrists. [Enter here to win]( the UNDONE Basecamp in dark green shown in the post above. Deadline for entry is 11:59 PM ET on 6/25/19. One entry per person. Big thanks to Huckberry for sending along one of these UNDONE watches for review and giveaway!
