[Here’s why.]( And here’s one: You know that confident feeling you get when wearing your favorite suit? Imagine feeling that way about your finances. [Get started here.]( Welcome to “[What I Wear to Work](.” A series on, you guessed it, who wears what to work. Would you like to be featured? [Seems like some of you might?]( See the bottom of this post for instructions. To get this party started, I (the headless Joe guy who runs this God forsaken popsicle stand) will go first: [What I Wear to Work: Joe from Dappered (dressed up) | Dappered.com] The Suit: [Black Lapel Online Custom Suit – $499+]( I’m a bit lumpy in some areas (mostly on purpose), and sometimes those lumps just don’t fit into usual drop zones when it comes to suits. So, a couple years back I took the leap with the online custom thing (after seeing really good results with a super long-armed friend I helped get a suit for a wedding) and its been a lot of Black Lapel suits since. I’ve found that compared to other online custom outfits, these guys don’t randomly chop suit jacket tails (seriously other guys, enough with that), and their attention to detail is better than most. Directions for measurements are simple, they encourage you to upload pics for posture reasons, and their platform is easy to navigate. I like em’. A lot. [Shown above is their basic charcoal number](. Jacket has a ticket pocket. Pants have a single (not double) pleat for a little more room in the rear. The Shirt: [Ledbury Fine Twill Mid-Spread Dress Shirt – $145](. I’m hooked on these things. Bad. It’s a crap ton of money to spend on a shirt. And while they do run sales, they don’t run them that often. But man are the shirts awesome. Incredible fabrics, great collars (especially the mid-spread if you don’t usually wear ties), two fits, and they last forever. Shown above is the light blue. The Belt: [Marino Ratchet Belt in #37 Brown– $24.99](. Prefer a more exact fit than what regular belts can offer? Want to be able to loosen your belt after the wedding cake without messing with belt holes? This is for you, and it looks like a regular dress belt. The Shoes: [Allen Edmonds Clearance First Quality Shoes or Boots – $157 – $250](. I don’t play the seconds game. Why? Because for whatever reason, I keep finding excellent first quality shoes in the AE clearance section for enormous discounts. You can return clearance shoes, for free, and they’re supposed to be first quality. So, that’s the section I shop. At the top of the post is an old pair of discontinued, Bleeker Street Chukkas. Love ’em [In the graphic is a pair of MacKenzie wholecuts in brown](. I have those to. Although I didn’t get them or quite as low as [the current absurd asking price of $157](. The Watch: [Seiko Samurai Dive Watch – $344.95](. Or, whatever your favorite diver happens to be. Cheap, [mid-price, expensive](, whatever. They’re just so darn versatile. The Briefcase: [Saddleback Flight Case – $549]( I’ve carried dirt cheap briefcases. I’ve carried slim, fashion forward briefcases. This is the one I might be sticking with for a while. It does it all, and I really like that wide mouth “gladstone” hinge opening. It’s not small. It’s not light. But I love it. Spendy as hell (I got mine during their pre-order sale when they launched), but that 100 year warranty sure is nice. The Socks: [Nordstrom Over-the-calf Merino Socks – $14.50]( I know. You’re shocked. The Underwear: [Ex Officio Give-N-Go Breathable Brief – $19.98](. A total game changer. Way better than all cotton underwear when it comes to keeping you cool and dry. And the next time someone invents a boxer brief with legs that don’t ride up? That’ll be the first time. So as dorky as briefs may be, I don’t have doughnuts of buched up fabric in my craw all day. Which is a plus. If you want to take this for a spin, send an email to joe@dappered.com with who you are, what you do, and what you’d like to submit. To be featured, we’ll need a picture of you at work, as well as the details on what you’re wearing/usually wear on the job. Final image will have to be cropped down to 1500×840 pixels, so, keep that in mind when shooting. Landscape mode please, and let’s keep anything from the chin up out of it, since our eventual robot overlords will one day scalp the web for faces that they can scan and plaster onto their metallic skulls to increase their “trustworthiness.” Note that sending an email with your picks and a pic doesn’t guarantee publishing. We gotta have some variety, y’know? That’ll help your chances. But be yourself. And get your employer’s permission if you’re gonna get specific with your place of work. If you get fired, that’s on you. Good luck. We’ll be in touch. ff/Dappered?a=rtXa8uRFzCs:ffU3QzhUs4Y:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=rtXa8uRFzCs:ffU3QzhUs4Y:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=rtXa8uRFzCs:ffU3QzhUs4Y:gIN9vFwOqvQ [Style Scenario: Spring Temptation – Dressed Up 2019](r/Dappered/~3/4Xqx_fgxmvc/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 15 Apr 2019 02:00 PM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. The week before last we brought you a round up of the [best in new affordable men’s style arrivals for spring of 2019](. From that post [we created both casual]( and [middle ground looks](.  Now we’re combining several of the spring temptation picks to create a well curated suited up look that should still look sharp in the warmer months to come. The Suit: [Spier & Mackay Tropical Weight Suits – $348]( Excited about these, but they do have a drawback: the jackets are fully lined. So if you’re a super sweater of a man, then you might want to steer clear. Lined in Bemberg though, so it’ll breathe noticeably better than stuffy polyester lined suits. Lighter weight tropical wool does help in the warmer months too. The Watch: [Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chronograph – $2195]( I mean, it’s fun to dream, no? This is definitely an heirloom piece, worth saving up for. [Three words for you: Treat Yo’ Self]( Or, not. I dunno. Still, fun to look at. Fingers crossed it hits the gray market for a lot less. The Tie: [The TieBar Striped Pointed Tip Knit Tie – $25](//www.thetiebar.com/product/33284sk). “Why don’t you guys recommend ties more?” Good question. It’s one of the primary questions pondered by philosophers and mystics as they grapple with the enigmas of the universe. We don’t always wear a tie, but if we did, a good looking knit tie usually does the job in the warmer months. The green/grey stripe will add just the right amount of color against the grey suit. The Shirt: [Nordstrom Smartcare Trim Fit Herringbone Dress Shirt – $49.90]( ($69.50). Or whatever your favorite slim fitting white dress shirt is. The Belt: [Nordstrom Mercer Leather Belt – $49.50](. Simple but classic leather belt looks, made in the USA. The Raincoat: [Suitsupply Italian Wool Blend Raincoat – $499](. For the cooler, wetter climates. This is one of those staple pieces that will serve you well for many years and seasons. Not cheap, but worth investing in. 80% wool and 20% poly fabric from Italy. The Duffel: [WP Standard Boxcar Duffel – $400](. Heading off to a wedding for the weekend? This’ll be your perfect travel companion. Really good looks and terrific leather construction, combined with just-the-right-size usefulness. The Shoes: [Nordstrom Roger Monk Strap Derby – $124.95]( From their affordable, but still pretty nice house brand. Should look quite good with all manners of lightweight suiting. Remember, cheaper suede always looks better than cheaper leather. Socks are up to you. You can go with plain gray, or a bit of pattern since the rest of the outfit is pretty quiet. ff/Dappered?a=4Xqx_fgxmvc:iqZZDeB2VHc:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=4Xqx_fgxmvc:iqZZDeB2VHc:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=4Xqx_fgxmvc:iqZZDeB2VHc:gIN9vFwOqvQ [How to spend your tax refund… with style in mind](r/Dappered/~3/HfG2o7gqAbs/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email) Posted: 15 Apr 2019 08:00 AM PDT Heads up: Buying via our links may result in us getting a commission. [Personal Capital]( tracks your net worth and spending for free, so you know where your savings stand and how your investments are performing. [Get started here.]( The $1534 Style Splurge: Spending half this year’s average Tax Refund Now, before all the armchair [Suze Orman’s]( get their knickers in a twist, know that this is an annual tradition. And it’s hypothetical. We’re not even, again, hypothetically spending an entire average tax refund. So, for the love of Dave Ramsey’s tighty whiteys, let’s keep it in perspective. Now with that said, the average refund this year [appears to be around $3068](. That’s a lot of money, and [one hell of a 0% interest loan]( to provide Uncle Sam. Most of us aren’t getting back anywhere near that, but for farts and snickers, we’ll cut half off this year’s average (for the savings account) and fake-spend the rest. Because really, what’s the fun in hypothetical splurging (serious splurging below) if you can’t do it at least somewhat responsibly? (Top Photo [Credit]() [Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer – $519.97]( ($1045) [Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer]( Easily a casual/sporty watch you could wear for decades to come. Inspired by Royal Air Force watches made by Hamilton in the 1970s, with a unique case shape and interior bezel. 41mm case diameter should be wearable by most. Eighty, yes eighty hours of power reserve so you can set it down for a day or two and it’ll tick right along just fine. Currently sold by Nordstrom Rack at a heavy discount, which is huge, being that Nordstrom has gotta be an authorized retailer, and thus, you should get the full warranty, cards, the works with your purchase. Can’t say that about gray market dealers. ($1014.03 left) [Made in the USA Korchmar Outpost Field Bag – $390]( ($650) [Made in the USA Korchmar Outpost Field Bag]( A sneaky big discount thanks to the Allen Edmonds Anniversary Sale. Made in the USA with American-made and sourced materials. Water resistant. Leather accents. Dimensions are 13.5″ H x 3.5″ W (4.75″ W w/ pockets) x 15.5″ L, so it should fit most 15″ laptops. [Also available in olive & black]( if that’s more your thing, but that rich leather on grey twill (shown above) looks real good. ($624.03 left) [Bonobos Stretch Wool Blazer in Blue Windowpane – $337.50]( w/ SWISH ($450) [Bonobos Stretch Wool Blazer in Blue Windowpane]( Super airy Italian wool that’s just butterfly lined in the back. Perfect for spring and summer, but that cool-blue with windowpane shade would look dynamite with jeans when it cools off too. Obvious pattern, but the simplicity and crisp squares keep it from getting loud. 25%off $175+ code SWISH expires today, 4/15. ($286.53 left) [Ledbury White Fine Twill Mid-Spread Dress Shirt – $145]( [Ledbury White Fine Twill Mid-Spread Dress Shirt]( Again, this annual tax refund post always carries with it a bit of a “[treat yo self]( feel. And while Ledbury’s dress shirts are pricey, they’re worth it. Yes really. The Fine Twill fabric is super smooth but not shiny. They’re made in Europe with a construction that’s durable but still lightweight and airy. And their collars have that signature, slightly lowered second button (as seen above) so when you undo the top button it produces a perfect “V.” Sure it’s just a shirt. But it’s not just any shirt. It’ll be one you reach for time and time again. Available in slim or standard fits. ($141.53 left) [Proof Merino 72-Hour Henley – $74]( [Proof Merino 72-Hour Henley]( Crazy splurge here. But if you’ve ever tried a merino t-shirt or henley, then you know how amazing nature’s high-performance fabric can be. Merino wool is cool in the heat, yet it insulates when it’s cold out. It breathes. It dries quick. And it has natural anti-stink properties. They call these things “72-hour” because you can wear ’em for 3 days without washing, and not worry that you smell like a dumpster. Slim but not crazy tight fit. Snap henley placket. Four colors to pick from. Just enough nylon in the blend to make them machine washable (just lay flat to dry). Will you have [other, cheap henleys in your collection](? Of course. Will this become your favorite? Almost certainly. I told you there’d be splurges. ($67.53 left) [Jack Erwin Navy & Black Pebble Grain Cardholder – $45](//www.jackerwin.com/products/cardholder) [Jack Erwin Navy & Black Pebble Grain Cardholder](//www.jackerwin.com/products/cardholder) Jack Erwin is doing accessories? Excellent. They make their shoes in Portugal and Spain, and these card cases happen to also be made in Portugal. Three colors to pick from, but that blue and black option looks extra terrific. ($22.53 left) UPDATE: These have been removed from their site over the weekend? Odd. They just launched on 4/11. Hmmm. [Amazon Goodthreads Slub Polo – $20]( [Dappered.com]( Just about polo season. These 100% slub cotton polos are a nice option for those who prefer their polos a little more casual. NOT a thick, bulky, golf polo. Tail isn’t chopped and this can be tucked in or left out, making it hugely versatile. Super soft. Fourteen different colors to pick from. “Light Aqua” is shown above. ($2.53 left) A small cup of coffee. No sugar. Maybe a little cream – $2.50ish [Dappered.com] The level of sweetness that most have become accustomed to is pretty crazy. And not just in flavored coffees. In everything. That level of sugar is an acquired taste. But y’know what’s good about acquired tastes? You can UN-ACQUIRE THEM. Seriously. Take a break from the vanilla lattes or whatever the hell else you’re slurping down (if you’re on the sugar train) and re-familiarize yourself with good ol’ fashioned coffee. Black. Or, with a little half-and-half in it. Tastes weird at first, maybe, but that’ll change after a few days/maybe a week or so. Stick with it. You’ll save lots of money, and might even shed a few pounds over time.  ($0.00 left) And we’re done. To all the CPAs out there, congrats on reaching this year’s finish line. ff/Dappered?a=HfG2o7gqAbs:JeW1Az3SpOc:yIl2AUoC8zA ff/Dappered?a=HfG2o7gqAbs:JeW1Az3SpOc:qj6IDK7rITs ff/Dappered?a=HfG2o7gqAbs:JeW1Az3SpOc:gIN9vFwOqvQ You are subscribed to email updates from [Dappered Style Mail]().
