[Personal Capital]( tracks your net worth and spending for free, so you know where your savings stand and how your investments are performing. [Get started here.]( What are you going to wear? Sometimes it’s good to look at a few suggestions then add your own tweaks and ideas. That’s what these are for. It’s that time of the year again, when 64 teams of under-compensated young adults gather together for a large shooty hoops tournament in an effort to turn their training, practice, and sweat equity into a windfall of cash and glory for, I dunno, not them, without getting paid. *Climbs down off high horse* For a lot of us, our [alma maters are garbage at basketball](, so we have no horse in this race. Still, the annual shooty hoops extravaganza is an opportunity to engage in some friendly wagers with friends and colleagues, and enjoy a nice beverage out at the local watering hole while watching the chaos unfold. But, just because your bracket can turn sloppy fast doesn’t mean your outfit should. Below are picks for supporting your team and looking good, all while your chances of winning the office pool look bad. The Alma Mater Crew: [Champion Reverse Weave Team Gear Crewneck Sweatshirt – $55](&productBeginIndex:0&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:20&). Look, team gear is outlandishly overpriced and can get gaudy. Opt for something timeless, like this basic crewneck sweatshirt, or a team-issue track jacket/quarter-zip. I love this top from Champion, a legendary and recently revitalized athletic brand with a non-billowy classic cut. Comfortable, basic, with a dash of school spirit and brand call-out on the cuff. Champion now only sells these in a standard grey, but check some of your school’s dedicated team apparel companies for more color options (as shown in the image at the top of this post). Bonus points if your alma mater stinks and you’re STILL repping them at the bar. Because it’s all more than just a little absurd, no? The Pants: [Bonobos Stretch Washed Chinos in “Congos” – $70.40]( w/ ECLIPSE20 ($88) . Not a bad, affordable option for guys with quads and calves that might actually provide them with the hops to dunk (or, at least touch the rim… maybe… on a good day). 99% cotton and 1% elastane, but the blend does feel much more comfortable than you’d expect. Extra room for bootyliciousness and thunder-thighs. The Sneakers: [Converse Nexus x Nike Zoom Air – $59.99](. A real sleeper, I stumbled upon this pair while browsing eBay for a new pair of basketball kicks [[baller alert](. Great, modern silhouette for the smart-casual sneaker, while offering serious athletic shoe credentials with full-length Nike Zoom Air cushioning. These took a couple of days to break in the surprisingly-nice leather upper and the midsole cushioning, but once they were, I rarely took them off my feet. Sizing is limited, but these are worth searching for. The Sunglasses: [Ted Baker 55mm Rectangle Sunglasses – $55.97]( ($149). The games start early, so if you’re headed to spend the afternoon in the dark seclusion of a sports bar with pals, you’ll need some sun protection for the trip down. The Watch: [Christopher Ward C60 Pro Trident 600 in Blue – $755](. You can go a number of ways here. Full-on athletic with [a big honkin’ Casio](, or super casual [with a Seiko 5](. For an elevated take, I went with the Christopher Ward. Dive watches produce a sporty, yet refined look that translates well at the bar in this outfit, to the boardroom in a suit. A true all-situation timepiece. For a cheaper option, but still great bang for the buck, check out [the Seiko 007]( in [the Dappered Essentials Shop](. The Socks: [Fanatics For Bare Feet Team Socks – $13.99](o-83+d-31883378+f-46698611+z-9-1499032869?utm_medium=cse cid=FLASH _s=GPA_CA sku=7976522 targetid=pla-299684802622 gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiJSNzPeL4QIVFoTICh3M4). We’re cheering on a bunch of teenagers and very young adults while they play basketball. It’s ok to get a little wild here with your socks. Sporting events are a perfect opportunity to have fun with the socks, and show a little extra pride. The Belt: [Gallery Seven Woven Elastic Braided Belt – $11.52](. Dan from accounting ordered another pitcher (of course you’re prepared and have a cab company on speed dial) and another batch of fries for the table. Now’s a good time for a belt that can forgive a little. The Bracket Updating Tool: [Red Sharpie 12-Pack – $6.55](. The kids probably do this on their phones now, no? But it’s so much more satisfying to scribble out your frustrations all over your sheet when it goes up in smoke. The Entry Fee/Cash. Don’t be the deadbeat that doesn’t pay up, still turns a sheet in, and the pool organizer has to track you down at the end for your fee because you were out before the end of the first weekend. Pay before the games tip off. About the Author: Jason P. is a Dappered devotee, having curated the majority of his wardrobe through the site. [Personal Capital]( tracks your net worth and spending for free, so you know where your savings stand and how your investments are performing. [Get started here.]( [Spier & Mackay Sunglasses – $68]( Spier & Mackay is moving and shaking. If diving into the shoe world wasn’t enough, now they’re breaking into sunglasses as well. And just like their suits, shirts, shoes, etc… their sunglasses are priced plenty fair, and feel/wear quite good out of the box. Especially the acetate/round lens options. [In Review: Spier & Mackay Sunglasses | Dappered.com]( Tortoise with green lenses. Classic. You learn a lot about a pair of sunglasses as soon as you pick them up and swing open the ear pieces. Are they rickety? Do the hinges or ear pads make funny noises when you lift them out of the box? Do the temples flop about? Do they sit on your face square, or do they list to the side? None of these issues arise with these Spier sunglasses. [In Review: Spier & Mackay Sunglasses | Dappered.com]( Branding is on the inside, not outside, of the frames. The round lens, acetate options are straight up beautiful. All edges round off perfectly. The plastic frames are nice and smooth. The tortoise shell pattern bright without being garish. And they’re super comfortable. Size is 49mm, which usually is a good size for small to medium sized faces, but I found that even my larger than average mug took to these pretty well. [In Review: Spier & Mackay Sunglasses | Dappered.com]( The wire aviators. Lightweight without feeling disposable. The aviators are a larger 57mm in size, but don’t seem to wear quite as large. Noticeably lighter in weight than the acetate shades, but not feather-weight and weak feeling like super-cheap shades. Nose pads are comfortable. Ear pieces are smooth. No loose plastic seams razoring into the tops of your ears here. Hinges are like the acetate option, and have a smooth operation and just enough tension so they aren’t flopping about. [In Review: Spier & Mackay Sunglasses | Dappered.com]( Good hinges. And again, branding is on the inside. No polarized options as of yet, but that’s actually preferable if you’re looking at screens outside (or, inside a cockpit [if you happen to fly planes and stuff](. The plastic/acetate round lens frames feel a bit more luxurious than the wire framed aviators. I can’t quite explain why, but both fill the oddly large gap between gas station throw-aways and crazy high end luxury brands. Nice work outta Spier & Mackay, once again. When he’s not doing photography, he’s writing and working towards his goal of becoming a Marine Aviator. [Click here for Zach’s 5 Favorites](. BIG thanks to Zach’s wife Marietta for helping out with the photos for this post! Target’s Goodfellow & Co. line is coming up on two years old, and so far? It’s good. Quite good. More-than-good if you hit on a piece that fits you just right off the rack. (The one issue they seem to have is that there’s a bit of a jump/space between the ballpark Small, Medium, Large, etc.) And since you guys seemed to appreciate [the look at their fall/winter collection](, we took some of their new spring line for a spin. Spring is right around the corner now, and so it’s time to start getting your outfits ready for the sunlight and warmer weather. Note that I’m 6’0″ / 180lbs, and everything below is a size medium unless otherwise noted. [Regular Fit Short Sleeve Henley Shirt – $12.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( This is a well made shirt. The cotton is soft, and the buttons seem to be sewn on well. There’s not a whole lot to say about it other than it fits true to size and I’m considering buying three or four of them for this summer. The cotton is lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap, and the color options are all pretty nice [Canvas Trucker Jacket with Flannel Lining – $39.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( This was the item I was looking most forward to testing, as I have the equivalent Levi trucker jacket in a nearly identical color. Honestly, I like Target’s jacket better. The canvas feels nicer than a denim trucker, and the quality is pretty great. The overall feel is similar to the “firehose coats” that places like Duluth Trading sell. If you’re worried about it being too warm for spring due to the “flannel” lining, don’t be. It’s barely there. The jacket fit true to size (I’m 6’1” tall and 175lbs and wear a medium) and the sleeves were a good length, which can be problematic with some brands. It’s nice how it is, but if I had a spare weekend I’d wax the canvas, which I think would make this jacket look even cooler. [Regular Fit Short Sleeve Crew T-Shirt – $9.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( A similar story to the henley, albeit a bit more casual. The quality on this one seems a little bit lower — some of the stitching was loose on the one I tried on. Fit wise, I’d say if you plan on wearing this as an undershirt or just prefer a closer fit, I’d go a size or two down. As you can see it’s a little boxy on my frame, but I’m pretty lean and this is pre-wash. Maybe it’d shrink up a bit. That all said, this shirt was very comfortable under both the trucker jacket and the bomber jacket. [Slim Fit Northrop Poplin Button-Down Shirt – $22.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( This is an awesome shirt! I love microprint patterns on long sleeve shirts, so I liked this one before I even saw it. My go-to casual button-ups are the poplin shirts from Denim and Flower (a Marshalls store brand), and this shirt compares very much in quality to those. [The fabric is crisp and light](, and I can certainly see myself wearing this in the summer with the sleeves cuffed. If you’re planning on wearing it untucked, buy it true to size, but if your job requires you to tuck, I’d buy a size larger and shrink it. The tails are pretty short [Hennepin Slim Fit Chino Pants – $22.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( Wow these are a true slim. Buy 2-3 inches larger than what you normally wear. These pants look nice, but if you have literally any thigh muscles, plan on going up a few sizes. The quality of these pants is good, but they squeeze me in all the wrong places and constantly felt like the seams inside the thighs were going to burst. If you can go to Target and try several pairs on, you’ll probably be good to go, but I’d advise against ordering these online. Size shown above is a 32×32 [Nylon 4-Pocket Field Jacket – $39.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( I’m not sure why Target calls this a bomber jacket on their site. Because it’s not. It’s clearly modeled off of a field jacket, based on the collar and the pockets. Either way, I liked it. It fits slightly large, so if you needed to slim down your look, I’d go a size down. It’s relatively water resistant, so this would make a great jacket for an office commute or even a weekend jaunt with friends. The jacket is thin enough to wear on warm days, but it was chilly when I was testing it, and it keeps out the wind well enough. [Slim Fit Jeans in Blue Gray – $27.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( I actually wear [the Goodfellow Slim-Straight jeans]( as my everyday jeans, so I was curious to see how these were in comparison. They almost don’t feel like denim (despite the tag saying they’re 98% cotton and 2% spandex). The color was a bit blue-green, and they stretch. A lot. Almost like a pair of leggings. Fit wise, these are true to size, but I’d suggest the Slim-Straight ones instead of these, as the SS seem to be much sturdier and cut nicer than these. Overall I’d say these just feel too odd, to me, to wear on any sort of regular basis. Size shown above is also a 32×32. [Park Canvas Sneakers – $19.99]( [In Review: Target’s Goodfellow & Co Spring 2019 | Dappered.com]( Everyone needs a pair of clean white sneakers, and while not the nicest or highest quality, these can definitely fill in if you find yourself in a pinch. But… despite being canvas, I didn’t really feel that these allow my feet to breathe very well. So in the summer? That could be troublesome. If you plan on wearing these often/for long stretches/in the heat, I’d consider shopping around. Sizing seemed true at least.
