We need to do all we can to unseat Dan Bishop. And this election, that means helping Cynthia Wallace. [Dan McCready] Dear {NAME}, How time flies! It seems like a hundred years ago we were just kicking off our campaign in North Carolina’s 9th District. Well, it's hard to believe, but a new 9th District race is set to begin. The 2020 Democratic nominee, Cynthia Wallace, is kicking off her campaign this Tuesday, June 23, for a virtual fundraiser on Zoom. She’s taking on Dan Bishop, the ultra-partisan Republican who won the special election last fall. All three Democrats in North Carolina’s congressional delegation are joining the kickoff. And I'm excited to invite you to join, too. [Click here to sign up!]( Let me tell you about Cynthia. I know her well. During my campaign, Cynthia was the Democratic Party’s Chair for the 9th District. For more than two years, she fought alongside us, organizing in every county. If you know Cynthia, you know that's no surprise. Service is in her DNA. She grew up in a small farming town in rural Georgia, where she was active in her church. Her father became the town’s first Black county commissioner and co-founded the local NAACP. Look, things were bad enough before the pandemic. Already, public schools were underfunded, health care was unaffordable for too many, and people of color faced racism in every part of our institutions. But now, as the recession destroys jobs and life savings, the people of the 9th District are hurting even more. They deserve a representative who will fight for them. That's Cynthia. She’s running to lower health care costs, strengthen public schools, and invest in rural infrastructure. She’s passionate about justice. Cynthia understands the needs of every county in the district from years of organizing. And she has the life experience to be a needed voice in Congress. Oh, and there’s one more thing. She’s running against Dan Bishop. Every day since Dan Bishop was elected, he’s shown us even more of the ultra-partisan we knew from the campaign trail. He voted against impeachment. He became the first member of Congress to “out” the Ukraine whistleblower. Recently, he’s been protesting. Not like you might have been, in support of racial justice. Rather, he's joined protests to “liberate North Carolina” from the Governor’s coronavirus policies. We need to do all we can to unseat Dan Bishop. And this election, that means helping Cynthia Wallace. [Click here]( to attend Cynthia’s virtual kickoff. Or, if you can’t join, [click here to donate]( to help her take on Dan Bishop. Look, I don’t have to tell you, this is a tough race. We nearly won in 2018 and 2019, but the 9th District is still a longtime red seat. Fortunately, however, after September’s special election, the legislature redrew the district to be slightly more favorable to Democrats, after a court found it was illegally gerrymandered. That’s good news for us. Supporting Cynthia’s grassroots campaign is also a chance to keep building the same progressive infrastructure that we nurtured on the ground for years. Thank you for considering my request to continue what we started — to help Cynthia take on Dan Bishop and finally elect someone who will serve the people of the 9th District.
