We can let the extremists ruin the U.S. economy

We can’t default on our nation’s obligations now, for the first time, because of extremist voices in Congress who would rather see the U.S. economy fall off a cliff than compromise with the opposing party. House Republicans want to enact major cuts to the entire federal budget. Their plan cuts veterans’ benefits, early childhood education and health care for those on federal programs like Medicaid. Independent economists have said their plan could result in the loss of 800,000 jobs. Both parties must come together and find a responsible solution and enact a national budget that reduces the deficit while supporting working families, not the wealthy and well-connected.
