[DANA NESSEL - THE PEOPLE'S LAWYER]( {NAME}, I know I’ve asked for your help a lot recently. I'm sorry about that, but this is critical. [In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make your first contribution to my campaign this month. But first, I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain why this request – especially today – is so important.]( Here’s the deal: We close the books for the quarter tomorrow. It’s hard to overstate just how important this deadline is for our campaign. On Monday, my darkest nightmare came to life: Michigan's 1931 statute criminalizing abortion was activated -- allowing 83 prosecutors to begin enforcing the abortion ban and charge women and their health care providers with felonies. And what’s worse? My radical opponent publicly announced he will prosecute providers and women who seek abortion care. He won’t even make exceptions to save the mother’s life or in cases of pregnancies caused by rape or incest. But here’s the silver lining: Our team fought like hell to get a Michigan judge to grante a temporary restraining order to prohibit enforcement of the dangerous abortion ban. So for now, abortion is still legal in our state. [As Attorney General of Michigan, I’m the last line of defense in protecting abortion access in Michigan. And as long as I’m Attorney General, I’ll NEVER enforce an abortion ban or the draconian 1931 Michigan law on the books. In fact, I promise to use every legal tool at my disposal to protect safe access to abortion.]( But since I’m toe-to-toe with DePerno in the polls and CNN officially declared this is one of the most important races in the country, I need all hands on deck to fight with me. [{NAME}: It’s going to take all of us working together to save abortion rights in Michigan. Can I count on you to rush a contribution to help me defeat DePerno and save abortion rights in Michigan?]( [Chip in $5 >>]( [Chip in $25 >>]( [Chip in $50 >>]( [Chip in $100 >>]( [Chip in $250 >>]( [Chip in another amount >>]( Thanks for joining me in this fight.
