Allen retains shooting footage, businessman in Paxton impeachment case indicted

The video could help reveal how first responders reacted after the May 6 attack, in which a gunman killed eight people and wounded at least seven others before being fatally shot by an officer who was nearby on an unrelated call. Some officials argue that Texas open-records laws prevent the footage’s release, leaving the public to rely on first responders’ narratives and eyewitness accounts of the country’s second-deadliest shooting this year. [The Dallas Morning News has filed at least 70 public-records requests]( with the city of Allen and other local, state and federal authorities, for videos and other documents to assemble a complete picture of how the tragedy unfolded. Local officials provided some information but have declined to release video footage, citing victims’ privacy and the open investigation.
