The elder man told his son he wished he’d been able to afford a lawyer to fight for Nicholson’s innocence. After serving 21 years in prison for child sex assaults and a burglary he didn’t commit, Nicholson remained on parole and had to register as a sex offender. Nicholson’s father died in 2007, followed by his mother in 2008. “Today, I look up to Heaven and I can say, ‘Dad, it has happened.
