Pool / Staff Photographer) NEWS [Dallas police investigations leader Avery Moore confirmed as new Tacoma, Wash., chief]( A top-ranking Dallas police leader was confirmed late Tuesday as the new chief in Tacoma, Wash. The city manager’s decision to appoint Avery Moore, who serves as assistant chief of the Dallas police Investigations Bureau, was unanimously approved by Tacoma City Council members. He had been one of four finalists for the job in the city of about 200,000 in the Pacific Northwest. He starts on the job Jan. 18. Moore, 55, is a 31-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department. He [previously oversaw Dallas police’s special investigations division and tactical unit]( and before that led about 700 officers in the East Patrol Bureau.
