[For Texas women, complicated journey to get an abortion leads to Shreveport clinic](
For [three Texas women seeking abortions in a state that has effectively banned them,]( it was a journey they never expected to take. Traveling with a friend from a small Texas town. A lonely 13-hour bus ride across the state. A 4 1/2-hour trip from a city where a Planned Parenthood clinic could no longer take an appointment after six weeks of pregnancy. On Tuesday, they were among the Texans who arrived at Hope Medical Group for Women in Shreveport. While there, they described to The Dallas Morning News how their road to get an abortion suddenly became complicated after SB 8 went into effect. Hope Medical is one of several abortion providers outside of Texas that have seen their clinics fill after Sept. 1, when [Texas enacted SB 8, the nationâs most restrictive abortion law.](

[Arrest warrant out for DPD officer, grand jury referrals made for 12 more in alleged pyramid scheme](
An arrest warrant has been issued for a Dallas police officer and grand jury referrals have been made for a dozen others in connection with an alleged pyramid scheme, the department announced Friday evening.
[The departmentâs public integrity unit has obtained an arrest warrant]( for Officer Reginald Jones, a nearly 20-year employee who is assigned to the South Central Patrol Division, the department said in a news release. He is being sought on suspicion of promoting and organizing a pyramid promotion scheme. Â Also: [A man died]( after being shot multiple times in west Oak Cliff, Dallas police say. [Dallas woman goes two weeks without air conditioning, then meets a company owner with a heart](
The Watchdog, columnist Dave Lieber, writes: The woman and the man needed each otherâs help, but for very different reasons.
She needed him because she was stuck in the new home she bought this year during the thick summer heat for two weeks with a broken air conditioning system. Her new home warranty aside, nobody would fix it.
He needed her because heâs taken over a failed air conditioning company, and heâs trying to make up for the original ownerâs misdeeds that led to corporate bankruptcy.
