(Juan Figueroa / Staff Photographer) POLITICS [Texas Senate passes ‘Bonton Farms Bill’ to help ease the plight of the formerly incarcerated]( As the fate of several criminal justice and policing bills hung in the balance Thursday, the Texas Senate [gave final approval to a bipartisan bill named after Bonton Farms]( in South Dallas that would remove some of the burdens faced by formerly incarcerated people after being released. The Bonton Farms legislation from Rep. Scott Sanford, R-McKinney, looks to improve the re-entry process by resolving or reducing outstanding traffic tickets, possible warrants or non-paid fines that may exist from unaddressed issues due to confinement and other Class C misdemeanors that are punishable by fine for people who have been incarcerated. "Everyone deserves a second chance, and this bill will help end the poverty to prison cycle that we often see that leads back to prison," Sanford told The Dallas Morning News.
