(Ben Torres / Special Contributor) COMMENTARY [Dallas City Council, drop the petty politics and focus on the basic services that matter to the rest of us]( Metro columnist Sharon Grigsby writes: The narrative of "the mayor’s big fail" in Saturday’s election has captivated City Hall watchers, especially those rooting against Mayor Eric Johnson. Indeed, Johnson miscalculated in endorsing two candidates who subsequently couldn’t even win sufficient votes to make the runoff against incumbents with whom the mayor doesn’t see eye-to-eye. But the hot opinions out of Saturday’s results border on the ridiculous: How can Johnson show his face after the losses? Will he step down? Is his political career irreparably damaged? My advice to the 15 members of the Dallas City Council: Cut out the petty politics.
