(Tom Fox / Staff Photographer) CRIME [Records show accused Dallas officer Bryan Riser was under investigation in murder case in 2017]( Dallas police Officer Bryan Riser, who was arrested on two capital murder charges last week, patrolled the streets of Dallas for several years — even as authorities were looking into him and his father, Byron "Blue" Riser, in connection with one of the killings in 2017, [records obtained by The Dallas Morning News show.]( Last week, after Riser’s arrest in the killing of Saenz and another man, ex-Dallas police Chief U. Reneé Hall justified the decision to keep Riser on active duty despite the allegations, saying that she was first briefed on them in 2019. She said the department employed a lay-low strategy to avoid tipping off Riser. She said that at the time he was only identified as a "person of interest," insisting that he was not a suspect. But records obtained by The Dallas Morning News directly contradict those claims.
