On Friday, a federal judge in Laredo blocked the state from implementing a 2017 law that would ban the practice of one-punch straight-ticket voting ahead of the November elections. Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo said banning straight-ticket voting would result in longer times to fill out ballots and would burden voters by increasing their likelihood of exposure to COVID-19.
