(Vernon Bryant / Staff Photographer) COMMENTARY [The Family Place expands services for domestic violence victims in southern Dallas]( From Metro columnist Sharon Grigsby: The Family Place just [opened its Southern Dallas Counseling Center in the Red Bird area]( to help domestic violence victims escape, or at least navigate, their circumstances. The coronavirus confined the grand-opening celebration mostly to Facebook Live. But COVID-19 hasn’t prevented the center from opening its doors Monday through Saturday to anyone seeking help. The staff talks with clients however they prefer — in person or by phone — and, as always, all The Family Place services are free. The new office couldn’t have opened at a better time because the pandemic makes what is already an untenable existence for domestic violence victims all the worse.
