CORONAVIRUS
[‘The more testing the better.’ New Texas coronavirus data show numbers by county]( the first time since the coronavirus outbreak began, Texas is reporting the total number of people tested by county, giving the public its first glimpse of how testing rates vary within the state.
In Dallas County, which has 2.6 million residents, at least 9,500 people have been tested for COVID-19, the data show.
In a state where testing has lagged, [the new data can help pinpoint areas where testing rates are particularly low]( and show who among the most vulnerable residents has access to tests.
Also: Dallas County announced 10 deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon — [the first time the single-day count has crossed into double digits.](
And: Up to one-third of all known coronavirus deaths in Texas [occurred in a long-term care facility]( new death toll numbers show.

[Sources: AT&T Byron Nelson to be moved to McKinney’s TPC Craig Ranch for 5 years beginning in 2021](
The Salesmanship Club and PGA Tour on Tuesday reached a verbal agreement with McKinney’s TPC Craig Ranch to host the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament there for the next five years, beginning in 2021.
Sources said a few details remain to be worked out, and that the agreement has yet to be signed, but that could occur as soon as Tuesday afternoon. It’s expected that the 100-year-old Salesmanship Club will on Tuesday afternoon notify its members of the agreement.
When finalized, [the move to TPC Craig Ranch will begin a new era for the Nelson.](

[Here comes the cash: North Texas hospitals start getting millions from the feds to offset COVID costs]( columnist Mitchell Schnurman writes:
Federal dollars are starting to flow to Dallas-Fort Worth hospitals and medical practices after the government began releasing $30 billion from the giant relief package passed by Congress last month.
The payments are just the start of the federal coronavirus bailout — $70 billion more will come later from this particular source — [and local hospitals badly need the infusion.](

[Local Filipino chef puts catering on hold to focus on COVID-19 hospital work](
In the week before social distancing became the new norm, we shared a story on Dallas’ first Filipino Food Festival and how young entrepreneurs are fueling a boom of the cuisine in North Texas. But John Richard and Marie Manansala, the couple behind Mekeni Filipino Kitchen, were attending an overseas wedding during that time and were left out of the talented lineup at the popular March 8 event.
Last week in an Instagram post, the couple paused Mekeni’s catering services and pop-up events, prolonging our wait even further. John Richard’s full-time job is a phlebotomist and lab assistant at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. He shared that, for now, [he was trading in his apron for an isolation gown](. "Needles, tourniquet[s] and test kits" are taking the place of "knives, pans and pots" until "we defeat the ‘invisible’ enemy."
