[Ex-Dallas officer found not guilty for fatal shooting of 21-year-old woman](
A jury found former Dallas police officer Christopher Hess not guilty Thursday in the shooting of a 21-year-old woman who died in 2017 after he shot into her SUV a dozen times.
Hess, 42, was on trial for aggravated assault by a public servant for killing the driver, Genevive Dawes. Hess, who was fired by the department, did not testify during the trial and his attorneys say [he does not plan on returning to police work](.

[Southwest Airlines' latest 737 Max delay will remove 65,000 seats a day in peak season](
Southwest Airlines said Thursday that it doesn’t expect to have the grounded 737 Max back until after Aug. 10, removing nearly 65,000 seats a day from its schedules during the busy summer travel season.
Dallas-based Southwest, which is the largest operator of 737 Max jets, had previously expected to get the planes back June 6. The Boeing 737 Max has been grounded since March 13, 2019, after two plane crashes killed 346 people in Indonesia and Ethiopia.
[Southwest’s estimates match the most recent estimates from Boeing]( on getting the plane recertified by the FAA in mid-2020.

[Cruz, Cornyn vote against bipartisan measure to limit Trump’s Iran war powers](
Neither Sen. John Cornyn nor Sen. Ted Cruz on Thursday joined a bipartisan effort in the Senate to limit President Donald Trump’s ability to attack Iran unless he first gets authorization from Congress.
The opposition from the Texas senators didn’t stop the Senate from voting 55-45 to approve the war powers resolution, with eight Republicans voting in the affirmative.
[But the Texans’ stand helped make clear that the rebuke has no chance of withstanding the veto Trump has pledged]( to issue if and when the Democratic-run House approves the measure.

Dallas ISD's chief internal auditor offered his resignation Thursday, two days after decrying the school board's decision to call for an early peer review of his department's audit plans.
[The auditor, Steven Martin, had been with DISD for a little over a year]( coming from Garland ISD. Martin’s resignation will be effective on Feb. 28.
