[City officials say the challenge will include far more than just excess yard waste this time around](
When a storm with high winds and massive rainfall hit Dallas on June 9, city officials said the sheer volume of yard waste to collect off curbs was the worst they’d ever seen.
This time, after tornadoes touched down in Dallas late Sunday night, bulk and brush collection workers will face a new kind of challenge: a concentrated disaster zone, inaccessible roads and loads of structural damage.
But [the amount of bulk they’re expecting from construction and demolition debris will be a major undertaking]( said Assistant City Manager Joey Zapata.
"We expect the debris is going to be very different," Zapata said.

Also: [9 total tornadoes are confirmed]( as power is restored to thousands across Dallas-Fort Worth.

[Is Dennis Bonnen’s planned departure good or bad for Texas Republicans?](
With House Speaker Dennis Bonnen announcing Tuesday he will not seek reelection in 2020, Texas Republicans felt a weight lifted off their shoulders as the scandal-ridden leader tried to make the party’s elections next year a little easier by removing himself from the equation.
But Bonnen didn’t resign, so he’ll be in office until a new state representative is inaugurated in his district in January 2021, 14 months from now. With Bonnen essentially a lame-duck speaker, his decision to step away but not immediately could be a double-edged sword, sparing Republicans difficult and politically fraught questions about his actions but also starving them of his organizing and fundraising strength.
Mark Jones, a political science professor at Rice University, said [Bonnen’s departure was the best possible outcome for Republicans](.

Boeing said Tuesday that Stan Deal would head the division in charge of selling its commercial airplanes as president and CEO, leading a part of the company that has come under scrutiny for pressuring engineers and FAA inspectors to approve flawed software systems on the 737 Max. He replaces Kevin McAllister, who is the first to depart from Boeing’s top executive ranks since two deadly crashes prompted the aircraft’s worldwide grounding in March.
