['Inside it gets bad': Dallas ISD campus with broken AC more like a middle school sauna](
A broken air-conditioning system has made for a hot first week of school for students and staff at Francisco F. Medrano Middle School in northwest Dallas.
[The middle school has been without AC for weeks]( and district officials were hoping to have repairs finished by the start of the school year Monday.
But several issues delayed the repairs, said Robyn Harris, a spokeswoman for Dallas ISD.
As part of the 2008 bond plan, new DISD schools like Medrano are cooled by eco-friendly geothermal wells instead of traditional HVAC systems, said Miguel Solis, another DISD board member.
There's a leak in the well, making for costly and complicated repairs.

[Why flight attendants are upset about how Southwest Airlines offered raises, bonuses](
The union for Southwest Airlines' flight attendants is accusing the company of circumventing negotiations by going straight to employees with details of potential raises that could come with a new contract.
In a video sent to employees last week, executives at Dallas-based Southwest Airlines pitched a proposal with options for 3% raises or 2.5% raises with a $2,000 signing bonus.
[The two sides started talks on a new contract earlier this year]( and Southwest said it hopes to get a deal done by Nov. 1 that covers all 16,778 flight attendants.
In the video, posted in an unlisted link on YouTube, Southwest vice president of in-flight operations Sonya Lacore and vice president of labor relations Russell McCrady said they were giving an update on negotiations and gave details on the proposed raises. They also said there is a proposal for a new reserve system for flight attendants.

[Tragedy offered an emotional glimpse into the Jason Garrett most rarely see](
Luke Laufenberg gave Cowboys fans an emotional glimpse into the Jason Garrett few outside the organization ever see.
The son of Cowboys radio analyst Babe Laufenberg lost his battle with Burkitt's lymphoma early Thursday morning. He was 21.
Jason and Babe have been friends for more than 25 years. The Cowboys head coach watched Luke grow up, caught his football games when he could and walked with the Laufenberg family throughout their ordeal.
Garrett was in close contact with Luke and Babe in the final hours. He spoke to both Wednesday evening and again with Babe after receiving the tragic news.
