[Dallas' Highland Park Village is a high-end family affair](
Highland Park Village, the ritzy shopping center surrounded by multimillion-dollar homes and the invitation-only Dallas Country Club, just scored a major coup in the world of luxury retailing.
Goyard, a Paris-based trunk and fine leather goods maker since 1853, is opening a boutique in the center in November that will sell handbags known to retain their value like heirlooms.
Itâs also the culmination of center co-owner Stephen Summersâ seven-year pursuit of the exclusive retailer.
The big win affirms how Summers, his business partner Ray Washburne and their wives view [their decade-long ownership of the upscale shopping center.]( Elisa Summers and Heather Washburne, are sisters and Hunt family heiresses as daughters of the late Al Hill Jr. and granddaughters of the late Margaret Hunt Hill.

[Don't just blame hospitals and docs for high health spending. Texas keeps dropping the ball](
From business columnist Mitchell Schnurman:
Health care prices [are high in Dallas]( and utilization is even higher. But donât just blame hospitals, doctors and other providers.
Many factors contribute to rising health costs, from government policies to obesity rates to the number of physicians per person. Not surprisingly, Texas ranks low on many such measures. [And when lawmakers get a chance to move the needle, they often disappoint.](
Gov. Greg Abbott recently resisted [a 10% tax on e-cigarettes and vaping products]( and the bill later died. That frustrated Stephen Love, CEO of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council, because he believes it will lead to more young people becoming addicted to nicotine.
Texas leaders could help, Love said, by being more aggressive in fighting smoking, promoting wellness, recruiting doctors and â most important â expanding access to health insurance.

FINALLY...
[What is the pegan diet?](
In the pegan diet, opposites attract. This fast-rising eating plan is a fusion of the Paleo diet, heavy on meat, and veganism, which means not eating meat or animal products.
"If God made it, eat it. If man made it, leave it." That's the philosophy, as Dr. Mark Hyman, author and a medical director at the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Functional Medicine, explains it. [He coined the term pegan.](
The diet has gained traction in recent months for combining the plant-centric approach of veganism â including no eggs or dairy â with the best parts of Paleo, the so-called "caveman diet" of what Stone Age hunter-gatherers ate: meat, fish, nuts, fruits and veggies.
