[Pilots blame Southwest management for stoking 'unnecessary fear' in flying public](
The union representing Southwest Airlines' 10,000 pilots is injecting itself into the escalating war of words between the Dallas-based carrier and its mechanics.
In a strongly worded message, pilots union president Jon Weaks accused Southwest Airlines of creating "unnecessary fear and safety concerns in our passengers and the flying public" by declaring an operational emergency. He expressed confidence in mechanics to keep Southwest's planes in airworthy condition.
"The last few weeks have highlighted how poorly upper management at Southwest Airlines is performing, how it truly views labor, how ineffective its communication and execution of our daily operation are, and how everyone at OUR airline should be concerned," [Weaks wrote in his](.

[Dallas City Council member Kevin Felder faces third-degree felony charge](
City Council member Kevin Felder surrendered to police Tuesday morning, a day after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest over allegations that he collided with a scooter rider in South Dallas and drove off earlier this month.
Dallas police said Felder was arrested and processed for the charge of accident involving injury, a third-degree felony.
Police have said that on Feb. 13, before a City Council meeting later that day, [Felder’s Ford Fusion collided with someone on a electric scooter in the 2500 block of Malcolm X Boulevard](.
Authorities said Felder exchanged words with the scooter’s driver and left the scene before police arrived.

[Dallas victims' advocates are disturbed by a lack of 'concrete action' at pope's summit](
Dallas-area advocates for sex-abuse survivors expressed frustration and disappointment after a historic four-day summit led by Pope Francis to confront the global crisis within the Catholic Church.
[The summit, which wrapped up Sunday, brought together nearly 200 bishops and other Catholic leaders from around the world to focus on prevention of clergy sexual abuse](.
But Lisa Kendzior, co-leader of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, known as SNAP, said in a statement that church leaders should've taken more action.
"After four long days in Rome, survivors and advocates who had hoped to see Catholic Church officials take concrete action towards ending the clergy abuse and cover-up crisis were left disappointed," the DFW-SNAP statement said.
