One in three women in Texas will experience some form of domestic abuse in her lifetime, according to Jan Langbein, executive director of the Genesis Women’s Shelter. In Dallas, police statistics show there have been more than 6,600 intimate partner crimes, largely “simple” and aggravated assaults, in 2024. Nine have been fatal.
